The Opportunity: This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in a baseline uplift project, contributing technical expertise across complex ship systems. You will act as the Subject Matter Expert, providing critical guidance and technical direction to ensure alignment across LHD and AOR systems. You’ll be at the centre of resolving baseline discrepancies, leading the identification and remediation of system misalignments while empowering the broader project team with clear, risk-based technical advice. Working collaboratively across disciplines, you will influence key decisions and help drive technical integrity throughout the project lifecycle. With a Level 4 SQEP Technical Delegation, you’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, shaping outcomes and ensuring that all technical activities support the successful delivery of the ACS CLCM Baseline Uplift Project. This is a permanent full-time opportunity and is based in Garden Island, Sydney. Responsibilities: Provide system-level technical assurance across Platform, Combat Systems, or Electrical domains, ensuring maintenance, support, and configuration data is accurate, aligned, and internally consistent for incorporation into the product baseline. Act as System SME to identify, analyse, and resolve baseline misalignments, applying ILS and LSA principles to assess data discrepancies and define technically sound remediation actions. Support technical risk management activities, including input to RPRs, PIRs, and engineering recommendations where baseline issues impact safety, sustainment, or availability. Collaborate with project and technical teams to ensure system intent, maintenance concepts, and certification requirements are accurately reflected in updated technical products for SPO/CLCM handover. Engage with internal and external stakeholders as a trusted technical authority, providing clear advice and supporting technical reviews across concurrent workstreams. Maintain effective stakeholder communication and strong working relationships across the CLCM environment. Contribute to continuous improvement of baseline uplift processes, tools, and governance frameworks. As the ideal candidate you will bring: Essential: Extensive experience in Electrical, Platform, or Combat Systems within the Defence maritime domain. Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Diploma or higher in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent ADF Subject 4 qualification (WO level – RAN, ARA, or RAAF trade). Experience in Navy Technical Risk Management. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a team environment. Eligibility for ITAR clearance Desirable: Certificate IV in Maintenance and Operational domains. Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent qualification in a recognised engineering discipline. Membership of a recognised professional body and eligibility for Chartered Engineer status. NRT qualifications including: TLIX0028X – Develop technical publications to support integrated logistics TLIX0031X – Provide maintenance engineering support in a Defence integrated logistics environment TLIX0032X – Undertake configuration management to support integrated logistics TLIX0034X – Undertake supply support in integrated logistics Experience in change management within complex technical environments.
