About the Job:
Supervises and implements routine and non-routine corrosion mitigation and control activities in assigned
operational area. Conducts corrosion inspection on pipelines, well casing/tubing, and carries out failure
investigations related to corrosion attacks on wells, processing, transmitting and storage facilities. Analyzes
related corrosion results and recommends remedial measures.
Provides specialist support and assumes responsibility for areas related to corrosion monitoring and control in
Refinery including plant, offsite and jetty equipment, and piping.
Reviews the operating conditions to assess and monitor corrosive conditions and evaluates the material
performance in corrosive streams. Reviews the metallurgy of the equipment and piping and makes
recommendations for upgrading as required. Conducts Remaining Life Assessment (RLA) for long service used
high temperature high Pressure equipment.
Initiates and implements the Company’s policy on corrosion control. Ensures that all surface preparation and
coating activities carried out on new and existing facilities are in accordance with approved specifications
Key Accountabilities:
• Implements the Company’s corrosion control policies to mitigate corrosion attacks on static structures,
equipment and associated facilities. Plans and implements work programs covering Cathodic
Protection, Chemical Treatment, Internal Corrosion Monitoring, Failure Investigation and Coating
inspection & evaluation etc.
• Conducts corrosion inspection on pipelines, well casing/tubing, and carries out failure investigations
related to corrosion attacks on wells, processing, transmitting and storage facilities. Analyzes related
corrosion results and recommends remedial measures.
• Plans and evaluates the results of all routine and non-routine cathodic protection surveys intended to
confirm the effectiveness of deployed systems. Makes appropriate technical recommendations for
possible improvements.
• Conducts effective monitoring programs on coatings of existing equipment, structures and facilities to
assess conditions and identify problems. Prepares adequate coating repair programs.
Participates in supervising intelligent pipeline tool inspection. Analyzes recorded data and plans
necessary inspection/repair program.
• Reviews and evaluates survey results from electrochemical probes, weight-loss coupons, and other
corrosion monitoring devices used to establish the effectiveness of internal corrosion control methods.
• Ensures satisfactory implementation and evaluation of all chemical treatment programs formulated for
internal corrosion control.
• Reviews corrosion mitigation measures for new facilities projects and/or modifications. Ensures
approved corrosion protection measures are incorporated in the design proposals and in selected
materials.
• Participates in plant corrosion inspections during shutdowns and investigates failures to identify causes.
Highlights areas of concern and advises on improvements required.
• Updates computer-based corrosion/material information systems to record and monitor a wide variety of
related data and information. Ensures that all corrosion tests/analysis data of each equipment/facility
and major problem areas are logged and identified.
• Performs other similar or related duties, as required.
• Task / Responsibilities during major turnaround / TAR
• In-situ Metallography: Prepares scope and carries out on-site metallography using replica technique to
monitor microstructures; evaluates microstructure condition and issues reports.
• Identify Austenitic SS equipment vulnerable to Polythionic Stress Corrosion Cracking and ensuring its
neutralization before opening during Shutdown.
• Collection of Corrosion products / corroded sample for analysis
• Review of Internal Inspection findings and plan for Root Cause Analysis / RLA studies as applicable
• Carries out a thorough and detailed review of all Refinery units process circuits and prepare Corrosion
Loops
• Identify specific Damage Mechanism and Integrity Operating Window (IOW) for each corrosion Loop
• Actively Participate in Risk Base Inspection (RBI) project implementation and its application on
continuous basis
Minimum Requirtments:
Bachelor Degree in Chemical/Metallurgy or Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent.
At least 8 years experience in the same or similar role in the oil and gas industry
