Job Summary Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as air compressors, generators, motors, and turbines to provide heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning for buildings and industrial processes. Roles and Responsibilities Lead HVAC and refrigeration repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance for chiller unit, package units, split units, refrigerated containers, walk-in chiller, walk-in freezer, and ice machines. Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot compressors, condenser and evaporator coils, fan motors, pumps, expansion valves, refrigerant systems, filter driers, electrical components, VFDs, VRV/VRF systems, sensors, temperature controllers, contactors, capacitors, and defrost systems. Read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams. Lead repairs, including refrigerant recovery and charging refrigerant, leak detection and testing, component replacement, functional testing, and re-commissioning of HVAC equipment. Prioritize breakdowns and coordinate planned preventive maintenance and corrective repairs to minimize downtime. Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to technicians while monitoring performance, workmanship, including compliance with maintenance standards and safety standards. Lead the emergency breakdown response for HVAC equipment, perform root-cause analysis, and identify recurring faults to implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Should be able to supervise and oversight the HVAC department when directed to do so Basic Qualifications Typically requires 7–10 years of relevant experience as an HVAC Mechanic Lead or HVAC Mechanic. Experience in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance. Demonstrate experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial air-conditioning, residential air conditioning, including refrigerated containers, walk-in chillers, walk-in freezers, and ice machines. Required High School Diploma or equivalent Associate degree or college level certificate in relevant field EPA certified or equivalent. Physical & Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude, the ability to read complex schematics, and physical stamina to lift heavy equipment and work in confined or elevated spaces. Work Conditions: Often involves working outside in extreme temperatures, navigating emergency after-hours service calls, and responding to on-call schedules Must be fluent in English Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity KBR Benefits KBR offers a selection of competitive lifestyle benefits which include medical insurance.
