Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. With big ambitions, we specialize in the development, construction and operation of RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric and dairy digester facilities. The team operates around 60 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline. About the role This is an entry level maintenance helper classification in the Power Plant Mechanic Advancement Program. The incumbent performs mechanical work in electric power generating equipment on an assigned basis. Introductory Employment Period Your employment with Archaea will begin with an introductory period of 90 days, starting from your first day of work. The introductory period is intended to support your transition into the role and provide an opportunity for both you and the Company to ensure a strong mutual fit. During this time, we’ll work together to assess how your performance, conduct, and reliability align with the expectations of the position and the values of our organization, while also offering guidance and feedback to help you succeed. During this time, your supervisor will evaluate your ability to meet the expectations of your role, including but not limited to: Consistent and timely attendance Quality and accuracy of work Ability to meet deadlines and productivity standards Adherence to company policies and procedures and the bp Code of Conduct Professional behavior and collaboration with team members and management At the conclusion of the introductory period, your performance will be reviewed. If you successfully demonstrate satisfactory performance consistent with the criteria set forth above, your continued at-will employment will be confirmed. If, however, you do not successfully demonstrate performance consistent with the criteria set forth above, your employment with Archaea will be terminated at the end of the probationary period. Note that, your employment with Archaea is at-will both during the probationary period and if you successfully complete the probationary period. At-will means that either you or Archaea may terminate your employment at any time, with or without cause, and with or without prior notice. Key accountabilities Observes operation of plant equipment and process for normal operation and identifies developing problems. Modifies operation of plant equipment and process to prevent failure to plant operations. Performs preventive and minor corrective maintenance on production engines, gas blowers and associated equipment. Assist mechanics in preventive and corrective maintenance, Engine and system components. Teardown parts cleaning and preparations for re assembly. Using Hand tools. Learns special tools and measuring Instruments, Drive and maintain company vehicles and Forklifts. Requires lifting of up to 75 lbs. Working outside in adverse weather and noise environment. Following company policy and procedures. Troubleshoot and correct equipment failures, abnormal operating conditions, and report abnormalities to supervision. Maintains plant appearance by cleaning, cutting grass, painting as required. Repairs, replaces, and maintains plumbing lines and mechanical parts. Assist mechanics or craftsman in cleaning, overhauling, and replacing engines, pumps, and associated equipment. Uses hand and power tools such as drills, hydraulic presses, and band saws. This is not a complete list of duties. Mechanics may be required to perform additional duties deemed necessary by management. Essential education Graduation from high (or GED) and three years related Mechanical work experience OR Vocational Training/ Military Service OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Essential experience Work hours vary by plant. The work schedule is subject to change per business needs and management discretion. This position will be on call 24/7, on a rotating basis, in case of any emergencies and failures. Overtime maybe required to meet various business needs. Must possess ability to read and interpret operations and safety manuals, analyze, and apply basic troubleshooting and repair techniques on plant equipment. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Must possess a valid driver’s license Must pass background check, hearing, and drug test. Mechanical knowledge, preferably in diesel engines a plus. Power plant experience a plus. Any technical certification or training is a plus. Why join us?
