ExxonMobil in Malaysia
In Malaysia, we host a global business and technology center in Kuala Lumpur that provides high-level information technology and engineering expertise to ExxonMobil’s Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses worldwide. In the upstream, we have interests in two Production Sharing Contracts with PETRONAS, while in the Product Solutions business, we supply a portfolio of specialty chemical products to the marketplace.
What role you will play in our team
We are seeking an experienced Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and inspection specialist to join our team and provide technical leadership in NDE area across our global facilities and capital projects. This role will ensure high quality inspection practices, support technology development, and deliver advanced integrity solutions to our assets and operations.
What you will do
Review and approve NDE procedures to ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory requirements.
Qualify and audit NDE operators and service providers to ensure competence and consistent performance.
Support the development and implementation of inspection quality, and mechanical integrity systems and programs at sites.
Lead the planning and execution of advanced NDE jobs. Provide expert interpretation of inspection results. Provide integrated analysis support with fracture mechanics experts.
Support failure investigations and root cause analysis by providing NDE expertise.
Work with sites and projects in NDE technique selection and implementation including:
Developing detailed technical requirements of the purchase specification. Act as Engineering interface and review Request for Quotation (RFQ) as needed by sites or projects.
Determine need for quality assessments of proposed suppliers of NDE services
Review, assess and approve inspection and test plans as required to achieve desired results
Participate in pre-award meetings for high criticality equipment
For application of critical or advanced NDE, participates in vendor alignment, coordination and pre-inspection meetings to assure all aspects of the NDE purchase specifications are covered during these meetings and provide guidance necessary to achieve intended results
Assist with equipment / materials rejection and/or nonconformance resolution process
May attend during application of high criticality equipment inspection tasks at suppliers’ facilities
Attend application of high criticality/complex techniques at sites or fabrication facilities.
Provide global training in application of NDE tools, systems, codes and standards.
Conduct research and development work to support company’s technology development program.
Drive the evaluation, qualification, and deployment of advanced NDE technologies across the organization.
Lead the development of internal inspection guidance documents, research reports, and specifications for new inspection technologies or novel applications.
Represent the company in Joint Industry projects (JIPs) and similar industry initiatives.
About you
Skills & Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, you must have:
Five (5) to 10 plus years of advanced NDE and inspection experience in the oil & gas industry.
Engineering Degree (Bachelor’s or higher)
Ability to travel and support sites globally
Ability to provide technical leadership and gain stakeholder agreement
Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards and industry practices (e.g. API, ASME, ISO, ASNT, AWS)
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong interpersonal communication skills and collaborative decision-making skills
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply analytical and statistical methods to inspection data
Demonstrated work experience in applying basic and advanced NDE in the following situations
New fabrication and welding of :
Pressure vessels / heat exchangers - air cooled / shell & tube / towers
Piping - field and shop
Pipelines
Tanks / spheres
Furnaces / fired heaters / boilers
Repair of pressure vessels, piping, and pipelines
Application of basic and advanced NDE in fitness for service
Preferred Qualifications/Experiences
Current or past ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II certifi
