AP/ AR Manager -Trading Settlements- Fixed-term

Please note that this role is offered on a fixed term basis, approximately until February 2028

The Supply, Trading &Shipping Team (ST&S) delivers physical trades with external and internal counterparties and customers, both on behalf of BP's businesses, managing physical supply and exposure; as well as for entrepreneurial purposes using market intelligence data.

The role of the 3rd Party Team is to ensure trades are recorded and settled (payments and receivables) in an accurate and timely manner. This requires a thorough understanding of the physical life cycle (from trade execution through to physical delivery). Transactions can be very high value and with complex terms and conditions, requiring efficient problem solving skills.

The Team is responsible for handling operational cash and working capital on behalf of ST&S (c70% of BP's turnover is led through the ST&S 3rd Party Teams). The team produces a daily cash funding forecast for Treasury Management purposes.

The role supports FBT ST&S LT in owning and leading the settlement related processes, projects and initiatives.

In this role You will (be doing):

• Direct or indirect leadership of senior members and first level leaders
• Oversee full portfolio of 3rd physical settlements
• Recruit, retain and develop a team of highly skilled Trading Settlements Analysts
• Develop strong working relationships with ST&S Front Office and Functional Teams
• Deal with new business, process and other related project activity
• Ensure full compliance with the BP ST&S Settlements Policy
• Ensure delivery of high quality customer service
• Oversee aged debt process
• Oversee and ensure completion of all team related ad-hoc queries
• Champion, drive and deliver continuous Improvement ideas
• Represents the business to both internal and external audiences
• Required to influence others to achieve desired self/team goals and objectives. Influence LT members.

What You will need to be successful:

Experience

• Relevant finance degree
• minimum of 6 years of experience in finance or accounting

Leadership and Team Management

• At least 5 years of experience coaching and/or leading teams.
• Proven track record to handle challenging priorities and deliver results consistently.
• Strong change-management skills and the ability to lead teams through process and organisational change.
• A collaborative approach, with the resilience to perform effectively during high-pressure periods such as month-end and quarter-end.

Technical and Operational Expertise

• Experience using SAP.
• In-depth knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable settlement principles.
• Strong understanding of the trading environment, supported by deep expertise in trading settlements processes.
• Demonstrated ability to use artificial intelligence tools effectively and responsibly to improve productivity, decision-making, and process efficiency, while actively encouraging and supporting their adoption within the team.
• Strong commitment to business controls, including the confidence to speak up when appropriate.

Continuous Improvement and Delivery

• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, including process, automation, and reporting enhancements.
• Ability to deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail, committed attitude.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse range of partners at all levels.
