EHS Advisor – Data Centre Construction Location: Helsinki, Finland Sector: Data Centre / Mission Critical Construction Employment Type: Permanent or Contract – depending on experience The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor to join a major data centre construction project in Helsinki, Finland.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale, technically complex mission-critical development, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure to the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
Working alongside the project management team, contractors and specialist subcontractors, you will play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining safe working practices throughout the construction programme.
Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and monitoring of project-specific EHS policies, procedures and management systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor adherence to health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and support the safe planning and execution of construction activities.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote awareness and best practice.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
• Monitor high-risk activities, including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works and mechanical installations.
• Maintain accurate EHS documentation, inspection records and project reporting.
• Support environmental management initiatives, including waste management and pollution prevention.
• Work collaboratively with site management and construction teams to continuously improve EHS performance.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an EHS, HSE or Health & Safety Advisor role within construction.
• Experience working on large-scale construction or complex engineering projects.
• Data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial or other high-specification construction experience would be advantageous.
• Relevant health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Good understanding of risk assessments, method statements, site inspections and incident investigation.
• Knowledge of construction safety legislation and the ability to work effectively with multiple contractors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to maintaining high standards across a busy construction site.
• Ability to work in Helsinki and collaborate within a multinational project team.
