Offshore Delivery Lead – Azerbaijan

Location: Baku, Azerbaijan Contract: 12-Month Renewable Contract Working Arrangement: Residential Rate: Day Rate (USD)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Offshore Delivery Lead to support a major offshore gas and condensate development in Azerbaijan. This is a residential position based in Baku, with responsibility for overseeing delivery activities and coordinating technical, quality, testing, logistics and material management aspects of the project.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that project packages are delivered in line with technical specifications, quality requirements and installation schedules. The role requires extensive experience in offshore project development, engineering, fabrication, testing and offshore installation, alongside a strong background in offshore operations management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the delivery of project package activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality requirements and agreed delivery schedules.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables from SURF and SPS contractors in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Participate in technical reviews, HAZID and HAZOP studies, workshops and project meetings.
• Coordinate and monitor interfaces between project packages, working closely with interface managers and package leads to maintain schedule alignment and operational integrity.
• Apply knowledge of subsea equipment and components, fabrication and installation techniques, and qualification, manufacturing and production testing requirements.
• Monitor technical queries and deviation requests, ensuring they are addressed and resolved within the required timeframes.
• Oversee the testing of equipment and tooling upon receipt in-country.
• Anticipate material movements and coordinate logistics requirements into and within the country.
• Liaise with Drilling and Wells and onshore package teams to facilitate the transfer of material custody.
• Manage and support the delivery team, including the coordination and development of direct reports.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with fabrication, assembly, testing, quality and logistics activities.
• Work with package control and contract engineering teams to identify potential variations and assess cost and schedule impacts.
• Ensure effective progress reporting to the Package Manager and contribute to project package meetings.
• Coordinate with contractors, internal project teams and other stakeholders to ensure information is communicated accurately and consistently.
• Support lessons learned, project experience reviews, claims management and the close-out of company audit findings.
• Promote compliance with project HSE requirements and exercise the authority to suspend activities where there is an actual or potential threat to personnel, installations or the environment.

Candidate Requirements

• Engineering degree or another relevant, recognised qualification.
• More than 15 years of proven experience in major oil and gas projects.
• Extensive experience in engineering design and offshore installation.
• Strong background in offshore operations management.
• At least 10 years' experience in a similar position within the international oil and gas industry.
• Demonstrated experience leading onshore and offshore hydrocarbon field development projects.
• Strong understanding of major oil and gas project development and delivery.
• Experience managing project teams and coordinating contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication, assembly, testing, quality assurance and logistics activities.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively across international and multicultural teams.
• Fluent English is essential.
• Azerbaijani language skills would be an advantage.
