Mechanical Engineer

NES Fircroft is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading UK oil and gas operator in Norwich, supporting its offshore gas operations in the Southern North Sea.
Working as part of an experienced Maintenance team, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of mechanical equipment and engineering activities, helping to ensure critical offshore assets operate safely, reliably and efficiently.
What will you be doing?
You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technical teams, supporting the maintenance and reliability of equipment across our clients offshore operations.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the maintenance and reliability of mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, engines, valves and piping systems.
• Working with Operations and Maintenance teams to investigate equipment failures and identify improvements.
• Supporting planned maintenance activities, shutdowns and outages.
• Helping improve equipment performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
• Reviewing maintenance strategies and identifying opportunities to reduce maintenance backlogs.
• Assisting with the selection and procurement of replacement equipment and services.
• Supporting engineering changes, technical documentation and maintenance records.
• Liaising with contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Participating in site visits to onshore and offshore facilities when required.

You'll have the opportunity to broaden your engineering knowledge, develop your problem-solving skills and gain valuable experience working within a major energy operator.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you'll have:

• An engineering qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a mechanical engineering, maintenance or reliability role.
• An interest in mechanical equipment, fault-finding and improving equipment performance.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• A proactive approach to learning and developing new skills.
• A strong commitment to health, safety and working to engineering standards.

Experience within oil and gas, petrochemicals, power generation, manufacturing or another safety-critical industry would be beneficial.
Knowledge of rotating or static equipment, maintenance management systems such as Maximo, or offshore operations would be an advantage, but we'd also welcome applications from engineers looking to develop their knowledge in these areas.
