Why this role matters Our business model in Europe and Latin America is evolving. Historically, we financed projects backed by long-term PPAs covering their full output. Today, our projects increasingly combine contracted and market-based revenues, managed actively through our portfolio management capabilities. We are also moving towards financing a portfolio, where combining assets, technologies and offtake structures creates more value than each project alone.
This calls for a more advanced approach to project finance. You will lead financing strategy, investment analysis and capital structure across Europe and Latin America, introduce merchant and hybrid financing in Europe, and ensure financing is aligned with portfolio, PPA and merchant-risk decisions. You will also drive our shift from stand-alone project finance towards multi-asset, portfolio and HoldCo financing.
What you’ll be doing

• Non-recourse project finance, merchant and hybrid financing: Set loan structuring strategies, and design and execute financing for partly contracted solar, wind and BESS projects.
• Investment analysis and valuation: Own the project financial model and valuation approach, and co-own business cases with Business Development (BD). Translate Energy Portfolio Management (EPM)’s price, volume and capture-rate views into bankable cases alongside off-taker credit risk, and set return and financing metrics at project and portfolio level.
• PPA bankability and returns: Work with EPM, which sets the price and structure frame for each PPA, and with PPA Origination during negotiations, where the project finance model determines the return impact of each term.
• Financing and transactions: With BD, lead financing processes with lenders and advisers from due diligence to financial close – covering project, portfolio, bridge and acquisition financing, refinancings and divestments.
• Lender and investor relationships: Build and manage relationships with commercial and local banks, DFIs and multilaterals across Europe and Latin America.
• Team leadership: Build, lead and develop the regional team, including merchant financing capability, and align standards with project finance leads in other regions.

What you’ll gain

• A key leadership role defining how Scatec finances merchant exposure as we move from fully contracted single assets to a multi-technology portfolio, working directly with EPM, Commercial & Strategy and regional management.
• End-to-end ownership of complex renewable energy, storage and M&A transactions.
• Strong engagement with multilaterals, DFIs, commercial banks and equity partners.
• The opportunity to build and lead a high-performing Project Finance & Investments team.

What you’ll bring Essential:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or similar university-level education.
• 10+ years in Project, Structured or Corporate Finance or M&A within energy or infrastructure.
• A proven track record of closing financings for renewable or power assets with material merchant or partly contracted revenues.
• A strong understanding of wholesale power markets and trading: price formation, forward curves, capture prices, hedging instruments, and balancing, imbalance and ancillary services.
• Advanced financial modelling, including merchant scenarios and debt sizing for hybrid revenue profiles.
• People management experience and fluent English.

Advantageous:

• Experience from both the lender and borrower side, or from a utility, IPP, trading house or bank commodities desk.
• Multi-asset, portfolio, HoldCo, bridge or BESS financing experience, including merchant BESS.
• Experience structuring project equity and partnering processes.
• Exposure to European and/or Latin American power markets. Spanish, Portuguese or Polish is a plus.

Profile:

• Commercially sharp and comfortable with managed risk. You know where merchant exposure creates value and where it does not.
• Able to explain merchant risk credibly to lenders, credit committees and executive management.
• A natural collaborator across BD, PPA Origination, Commercial & Strategy, EPM, Asset Ownership, Treasury, Legal and Tax.
• Forms own opinion and is willing to challenge established thoughts and processes.
• Leads by example; develops, inspires and motivates team members.
