HR Operations and Employee Experience delivers global HR services, remuneration and benefits to all businesses and their employees. China Payroll is responsible for the administration of Payroll and Third-Party payment processing for approximately 1600 employees supporting 9 Shell China entities with a current annual payroll of approximately USD209 million. Reporting into the China Payroll Manager, you will be an integral part of the China Payroll team, a team of forward thinking and engaging professionals that love to work in a high-paced global environment. Together with our Regional Payroll Leadership Team, Payroll colleagues and key stakeholders, you will have a solid opportunity to re-define, standardize, and operationalize the new Global Payroll solutions for China Payroll to ensure a world-class pay experience. What you’ll be doing As the Payroll Specialist China, you will be accountable for the execution of the end-to-end payroll activities, which includes processing China monthly payroll (salary and statutory payments), verifying payroll administration activities against statutory directives/company policies and performing financial controls. More specifically, your role will include: Accountable for payroll processing in China ensuring on time processing of the scheduled payroll runs, handling payroll reconciliation processes, monitoring posting to finance, executing year-end and year-begin activities, transferring payroll funds, and performing regulatory reporting. Responsible for the execution of Financial and Internal controls that assure Shell Payroll’s ongoing compliance in an increasingly complex statutory and regulatory landscape. Responsible to monitor China statutory and legislative changes and work with stakeholders across Policy, Tax, Legal, IT, Finance and HR Team for timely implementation in Shell’s payroll landscape. Participate in Payroll Accounting Finance Backlog sessions and follow-up action items to ensure outstanding open items are managed in the financial books. Participate in Global, Regional and Local project implementations/system upgrades, providing payroll expertise and communicating with key stakeholders on a variety of compensation related issues including leading continuous improvement solutions. Responsible for analysis and timely response of complex payroll employee queries via Salesforce case utilizing China payroll, policy and legislation knowledge. Responsible for ensuring compliance to Group Records Management retention protocol, preparation of Audit reference documents and response to various internal and external audit requests. What do we need from you? When it comes to running the China Payroll, your collaborative engagement style and positive, forward-thinking mindset will ensure success. Furthermore, you will have: Preferably, 3-5 years of payroll functional experience working with China SAP Payroll, Workday HR and MS Office applications. Ability to manage multiple competing deliverables and effectively prioritize tasks. An analytical problem solver, independent worker and strong team player who is detail oriented with an ability to work under tight deadlines. Exhibit a demonstrated ability to ensure a high degree of confidentiality, discretion and protection of employee data based on Data Privacy legislations. Strong interpersonal skills and experience dealing with several key stakeholders across all levels of management. Energy, enthusiasm, solution-minded and can-do attitude. Sound judgmental skills to identify and resolve challenges and issues. Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and verbal).
