Title: DG BOSS: Lead, Electro/Mechanical Maintenance Technician (FN) Responsible for assigning and directing the work of the Technician, and the rest of the Antenna crew. Ensures the mechanical integrity of antenna systems by period inspection/maintenance and by replacing components, which have deteriorated due to fatigue or corrosion. Assist in repairs and maintaining antennas i.e., Inverted Cones, Conical Monopole, High Take Off Angles (HTOA), Hermes Loop Array, AFRTS, R-Site Building 201, Vertically Polarized Omni-Directional Broadband Antenna (VOBA), Spiral Cone, Horizontally Polarized Log-Periodic, Horizontally Polarized Directional Broadband Antenna (HOBA), Rotatable Log Periodic Antenna (RLPA). Performs various repairs as required on cables, wires, connectors, and splices, installs various fittings, shackles, thimbles, and swivels on cables. Supervises work in progress and during completion, ensures proper quality and quantity of output from each worker. Maintenance personnel shall wear and use personal safety equipment, including but not limited to, a protective helmet, safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection. Performs inspection, maintenance, and repair of antennae and associated equipment (i.e coupler and transmission line) to ensure they are safe, fully functional, and operational such that the intended purposes are continually met and maximum life is sustained as referenced in Antenna High-Frequency Maintenance Manual (Red Book). The systems and equipment include all antennas, antenna systems, antenna components, associated baluns with ground or ground radial systems, transmission line systems, cables, structures, and all support and auxiliary equipment. Inspects and maintains transmission line cables and connectors for corrosion, electrolysis, breaks, and deterioration IAW Chapter 3 of the Antenna High-Frequency Maintenance Manual (Red Book). Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives. Basic Qualifications Have working knowledge and technical experience with the antenna outside plant equipment, erection equipment, standard safety procedures, and experience in the use of tools or possess the potential to be trained on the job for journeyman-level work. No fear of heights and mechanically inclined in the use of hand tools and no color blindness. Must speak, read, and understand the English Language. Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health. Must have a valid driver's license with the following license codes (B, B1, B2, C, D) and be able to operate assigned vehicles and/or equipment. Must be able to drive a Manual & Automatic Transmission. Preferred Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING Ensures all antenna maintenance personnel receives a Radio Frequency Radiation Hazards safety training course before the performance of any antenna-related work. Ensures personnel is physically capable of climbing the antenna structure and working aloft. Electrical Safety Training Adult CPR/AED Training from American Red Cross EDUCATION: Must be at least a High School, Technical, or Vocational Course graduate is required. EXPERIENCE: Must have at least five (5) years of experience working on the types of antennas and antenna components and in Antenna Maintenance operations.
