We're looking for a
Workshop Technician
to join our Downhole team in Romania. If you enjoy hands-on technical work, solving mechanical challenges, and working in a safety-first environment where quality matters, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
As a Workshop Technician, you'll play an important role in servicing, maintaining, and testing drilling, fishing, and ICT tools to the highest quality standards. Working alongside an experienced team, you'll ensure our equipment performs reliably for customers worldwide.
Your responsibilities will include:
Inspecting, assembling, disassembling and testing downhole tools according to NOV service procedures
Performing accurate dimensional measurements using precision measuring equipment
Reviewing inspection reports and completing service documentation accurately
Operating workshop equipment safely, including lifting equipment and specialist service tools
Supporting preventive maintenance activities and maintaining high housekeeping standards
Contributing to our 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
Identifying potential equipment issues and supporting technical investigations
Assisting with workshop operations, including preparing tools for shipment and general workshop activities
Participating in product, technical and HSE training to continuously develop your skills
Working collaboratively to maintain a safe, efficient and well-organised workshop
Participating in an on-call rotation when required
Occasionally supporting work at other NOV or customer locations in the UK or overseas
What you'll bring
Essential
Previous experience in a workshop, service or maintenance role
Experience working with service quality systems and processes
Knowledge of downhole drilling tools and servicing practices
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Good communication skills
Ability to read and understand technical documentation in English (all manuals and work instructions are in English)
Practical training on all essential workshop equipment incl. TM Unit, Overhead Crane, Forklift, Gas Safety, Abrasive wheels
A strong commitment to health, safety and quality
High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
Understands business needs and key drivers.
Makes effective decisions and delivers practical solutions that create value for both NOV and our customers
A willingness to learn, adapt, and embrace new technologies
Nice to have
Technical qualification related to the job role
Experience servicing drilling jars, mud motors or similar downhole equipment
Experience using precision measuring instruments
Knowledge of NOV systems such as EDS, TAT or JDE
