Commissioning Operator – Energy from Waste (Thermal Generation) Location: Birmingham Start Date: ASAP End Date: 31 December 2026 Working Pattern: 10 days on / 4 days off (12-hour shifts – days & nights required) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Operator to support the operation and hot commissioning of a thermal generation asset, through to full project handover. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations in line with environmental and operational standards. Key Responsibilities Operate plant systems in accordance with environmental permit requirements Support hot commissioning activities through to project completion Ensure safe and efficient operation of the asset to meet performance targets Adhere to all site safety protocols and industry best practice Assist in achieving operational readiness for handover Requirements Valid CCNSG Safety Passport Minimum 10+ years’ experience in commissioning within thermal generation Proven experience in Energy from Waste (EfW) operations Strong understanding of operating under an environmental permit Flexible approach to shift working (including days and nights) With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Chemicals, Construction & Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining and Manufacturing sectors worldwide.
