The Metals Craft Lead is responsible for assessing and improving craft competency, reliability, and effectiveness of routine maintenance activities within refinery operations. This role drives the development and execution of craft training, capability building, and workforce planning to ensure alignment with business needs.
The position manages craft programs and workforce development initiatives, supporting continuous improvement in safety, technical skills, and operational performance. The role also partners with Maintenance Leadership, Learning & Development, and other stakeholders to enhance training strategies and workforce readiness.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Perform craft competency assessments, needs analysis, and field audits to identify skill gaps and improvement opportunities
Develop and implement craft competency gap closure plans and a multi-year craft strategy
Oversee development, delivery, and continuous improvement of craft training programs
Direct and coordinate activities of Routine Maintenance trainees and support workforce development plans
Coach and mentor mechanics on leadership behaviors, technical skills, and career progression
Advise Maintenance Leadership on workforce planning, including mechanic moves based on competency levels and business needs
Collaborate with Learning & Development to design and update training curriculum using adult learning principles and new technologies
Ensure training programs support business unit requirements, including new hire onboarding, safe work practices, and craft-specific skills
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Significant experience in a metals craft discipline.
Five or more years of experience as a boilermaker, pipefitter, or welder in an industrial facility.
Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance processes and practices.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing and delivering adult learning and craft training programs.
Experience leading workforce development, mentoring, or craft competency initiatives.
Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.

The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on his or her skills, experience, and qualifications. Please note that the compensation and benefits listed below are only applicable to successful candidates who are hired onto local United States payroll.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $137,600 – $206,400.
