Marine Advisor Duration: Renewable contract Location: Angola Position Overview This Marine Advisor opportunity is suited to a technically strong marine professional with experience supporting offshore oil and gas operations. The Marine Advisor will provide specialist support across marine integrity, maintenance planning, regulatory compliance and emergency response activities. This position offers the chance to work in a safety-focused environment where the Marine Advisor will contribute to facility performance, reliability and operational assurance. The Marine Advisor role will appeal to candidates with strong offshore supervisory capability and deep knowledge of marine systems and classification requirements. Role Context This position sits within the offshore oil industry and supports marine-related facility integrity activities. The role involves coordination with facility management and marine engineering teams, as well as engagement with third parties and classification bodies where required. The working environment is operationally focused, with involvement in planned maintenance, risk-based inspection and emergency response support. Key Responsibilities Communicate facility performance and reliability issues relating to marine matters and coordinate with relevant management and marine engineering personnel. Participate in marine-related risk assessments and support facility integrity activities, including risk-based inspection and planned maintenance programmes. Coordinate forward planning for classification society activities and liaise on inspection dates, concerns and deficiency resolution. Work with third parties on marine tasks and issues, including oversight of external work when acting as company representative. Support offshore marine activities including equipment offloading inspections and maintenance. Operate in line with required operating standards, procedures, quality expectations and emergency response duties as directed. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Recognised engineering degree in a mechanical or structural discipline, Naval Architecture qualification, or STCW Marine Officer qualification. Essential: Supervisory experience with a high standard of knowledge of marine systems and the ability to fault-find and detect malfunction. Essential: Strong understanding of classification society and regulatory compliance requirements, including DNV, Lloyds, SOLAS, MARPOL and ISPS. Essential: Emergency response capability, including knowledge of confined entry risks, firefighting command and control, and marine lifesaving appliances and survival craft operations and maintenance. Essential: Good written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical ability, strong organisational skills and a clear commitment to safety and security culture. Desirable: STCW II/2 Unlimited Chief Officer endorsed for Advanced Oil Tanker Cargo Operations, or STCW III/2 Unlimited 2nd Engineer. Desirable: Five years of offshore oil industry experience in a supervisory or management role.
