We currently have an opportunity for a Superintendent (Hydrographic). This position is based on Doha-Onshore.  Responsible for overseeing all hydrographic related functions, ensuring the collection, processing, interpretation and delivery of high-quality marine data for RLIC Port dredging and reclamation project, marine works related to NFW Off plot project. The role shall support project planning and execution by providing precise seabed information, while ensuring compliance with project and safety requirements, and project timelines. To ensure hydrographic related activities meet quality standards, adhere to project schedules, and support cost-effective project delivery. Position is in Doha office and after EPC award the location will be in Project Site Offices in Ras Laffan, Qatar. The role operates within offshore, marine, and coastal engineering projects (e.g., oil & gas, ports, dredging, subsea installations), where accurate hydrographic data is critical for design and construction. Works in close coordination with multidisciplinary teams such as engineering, marine operations, construction, and project management.  Key Job Accountabilities Survey Planning & Execution - Plan and coordinate hydrographic surveys (bathymetric, topographic, drone and offshore surveys), select appropriate survey methods, equipment, and procedures. Proficient in survey setup, survey vessel setup, project setup Survey Instruments - In-depth knowledge of latest survey instruments and multiple software’s Data Collection & Quality Control - Supervise acquisition of survey data (depth measurements, seabed mapping, positioning), ensure accuracy, calibration, and quality of collected data Data Processing & Reporting - Oversee processing and interpretation of survey raw data, review/ validate charts, maps, and digital models (DTM, seabed profiles), volume calculations, prepare and approve survey reports, design models and deliverables 5. Project Management - Manage survey teams, vessels, equipment and survey personnel, coordinate with project engineers, marine teams, contractors, and third parties, ensure work is completed within schedule, budget and compliance with contractual, technical, and HSEQ standards Technical Management - Define scope for survey work, prepare technical specifications, and methodologies in line with project requirements. Ensure compliance with international standards and best practices (e.g. IHO, IMCA, ISO) Compliance & Safety - Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., IHO, IMO), enforce HSE policies during offshore and onshore operations, conduct risk assessments for survey activities in line with seabed conditions and marine operations Technical Support - Provide survey input for dredging, reclamation, pipelines, offshore structures, and port works, support construction and installation activities with accurate survey data, troubleshoot survey equipment and technical issues Team Leadership - Lead and mentor hydrographic surveyors and technicians, conduct training and performance evaluations, allocate tasks and manage manpower  Qualifications Certification course in Hydrographic studies from Hydrographic institute holding Category A Certification by International Hydrographic Organization (IHO)  Knowledge and experience 10-15 years’ relevant experience in Hydrographic studies, preferably within Oil & Gas Industry, or marine/ infrastructure works, or dredging projects. Minimum 5-year experience in a supervisory or acting role or managing personnel. of contractor/sub-contractors/service/vendor Proven experience in leading and managing hydrographic studies teams, including survey operations. Strong knowledge of hydrographic principles, including bathymetric surveying, positioning systems (GPS/DGPS), geophysical surveys, and seabed mapping. Proficiency in survey data acquisition and processing software (e.g., PDS 2000, HYPACK, CARIS, AutoCAD, GIS applications). Sound understanding of international standards and guidelines (e.g., IHO standards, IMO regulations). Familiarity with survey vessels, equipment calibration, and maintenance requirements. Strong understanding of HSE regulations and safe working practices in marine and offshore environments. Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, vendors, and stakeholders effectively. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Experience in Middle East projects is an advantage.  Technical and Business Skills Proficient in the use of survey equipment such as multibeam echo sounders, side-scan sonar, DGPS, and subsea positioning systems. Knowledge of survey vessel operations, equipment calibration, and troubleshooting. Good understanding of marine environmental factors (tides, currents, seabed conditions) affecting survey accuracy.
