Senior Instrument Field Engineer Duration: 6 months Location: Tanzania Rotation: 8x2 Start date: ASAP Position Overview This opportunity is for a Senior Instrument Field Engineer to support a major onshore crude oil export pipeline development and associated facilities. The Senior Instrument Field Engineer will play a key role in field engineering support across installation, testing and pre-commissioning activities for instrument systems. This position offers the chance to contribute technical expertise on a large-scale energy infrastructure project while working closely with construction teams and engineering stakeholders. The Senior Instrument Field Engineer role is well suited to candidates with deep experience in oil and gas facilities and strong knowledge of instrument engineering delivery in site-based environments. Role Context This role sits within a major crude oil export pipeline project spanning onshore pipeline works and related facilities, including pumping stations and tank storage. The working environment involves construction-phase support, site-based technical coordination and collaboration with engineering teams to resolve field queries and technical issues. This position is focused on instrument engineering activities associated with large-scale energy infrastructure delivery. Key Responsibilities Provide field engineering support for instrument works, including responses to site technical queries and requests for information on construction documents, drawings and specifications. Support the delivery, installation, testing and pre-commissioning of instrument equipment in line with project requirements. Assist with instrument layout and cable-related technical queries during construction execution. Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues arising on site and support communication with the design engineering office. Review and comment on contractor documentation submissions for technical content. Support vendor attendance activities and review close-out reports. Verify that instrument as-built records are maintained and approved as red mark-ups in accordance with project procedures. Provide daily, weekly and monthly progress updates on work status. Contribute to safety leadership activities and promote a safety-first culture across construction teams. Support knowledge transfer and training for local instrument engineering personnel. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Degree in Instrument Engineering or a related discipline that supports instrument engineering management and construction execution for onshore pipeline and associated facilities. Essential: Strong knowledge of instrument systems, including ICSS, FGS, PCS, DCS, RTU, CCTV, ESD, communication systems, SCADA, ISS and PAGA. Essential: Experience in instrument calibration and loop checking. Essential: Knowledge of hazardous area classification and IP ratings. Essential: Familiarity with electrical, instrument and telecommunication systems on large projects. Essential: Comprehensive experience in conceptual and detailed design of oil and gas facilities for instrument equipment scopes. Essential: Strong understanding of construction execution for onshore pipeline, pumping station and tank storage instrument infrastructure works. Essential: Working knowledge of IEC international codes. Essential: English language capability, including speaking, reading and writing. Essential: Proficiency in MS software, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe. Desirable: Chartered Engineer or Registered Engineer status, with membership of a relevant professional institute or certification body.
