We are looking for a
Senior Design Engineer
to join our Power & Controls Engineering department in
Tranby
. The offices are centrally located 10 minutes from Drammen and 30 minutes from Oslo.
In this role, you will take responsibility for mechanical design within defense projects, contributing deep technical expertise, and ensuring high-quality design solutions in line with established engineering standards and processes.
What will you be doing?
Hold responsibility for mechanical design of products and components
Perform all assigned technical activities in accordance with Aker Solutions’ Policy for Engineering
Contribute to the successful execution of the design process within your assigned scope
Create, check, and approve materials, drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with applicable standards
Perform tolerance analyses and ensure design‑for‑manufacture and assembly
Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain functions
Support and participate in design reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement of design solutions and ways of working
Prepare and maintain technical documentation and bills of materials (BOMs)
We think you should have:
Higher education within engineering, science, or a related discipline
Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, and experience working with SAP
Experience with design for manufacturing
Proven experience creating weldment drawings and designing welded structural components and assemblies is an advantage
Ability to create, check, and approve mechanical drawings in line with standards and best practice
Ability to perform mechanical calculations to support design verification
A proactive and improvement‑oriented mindset, with strong attention to quality and technical detail
Fluency in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken
Experience from defense or a serial production environment is an advantage
The role may involve projects where security clearance is required
