We are looking for a Lead Engineer Mechanical to join our Power & Controls Engineering department in Tranby . The offices are centrally located 10 minutes from Drammen and 30 minutes from Oslo. In this role, you will hold technical responsibility for the mechanical engineering delivery within defense projects, ensuring robust design solutions, compliance with requirements, and effective coordination across disciplines and stakeholders. What will you be doing? Lead and manage all mechanical engineering activities in accordance with Aker Solutions’ Engineering policies and governance framework Define and govern mechanical architecture, concepts, and design solutions from early phase through delivery Plan, execute, and control the mechanical design scope within projects Ensure compliance with applicable defense standards, requirements, and lifecycle constraints Translate system and project requirements into mechanical specifications and design solutions Lead technical dialogue with customers, suppliers, and relevant certification or approval authorities Support system‑level testing, qualification, and preparation for operational readiness Mobilize, guide, and coordinate mechanical engineering resources within the project organization Identify, manage, and mitigate mechanical risks, interfaces, and key technical decisions We think you should have: Higher education within engineering, science, or a related discipline Experience leading mechanical engineering scope within multidisciplinary projects Experience from product engineering, including design, verification, and testing activities Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturability, verification, and lifecycle considerations Experience working with 3D modelling tools (e.g. SolidWorks or similar) Good working knowledge of SAP as a PLM and ERP system A structured and proactive mindset, with sound technical judgement and attention to detail Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage across disciplines and external interfaces Fluency in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken Experience from defense or a serial production environment is an advantage The role may involve projects where security clearance is required What we offer: At Aker Solutions we are committed to creating an enjoyable, rewarding, and engaging career where you can thrive.
