Electrical Project Engineer – Renewables & HV Infrastructure
FIFO from Perth | 2:1 Roster | 12-Month Contract | $80–$95 per hour
If you're an Electrical Project Engineer who enjoys being out in the field rather than sitting behind design packages all day, this could be a good fit.
I'm working with a major resources and energy owner undertaking significant renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects in WA. They are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to join the delivery team on a large-scale project, supporting electrical construction, commissioning and energisation activities across a complex HV environment.
This opportunity is particularly well suited to someone coming from an EPC, contractor or construction delivery background who is keen to make the move client-side while remaining heavily involved in project execution.
The Role
Working on a FIFO 2:1 roster from Perth, you'll be embedded within the project delivery team and act as the technical focal point during construction and commissioning phases.
The position has a strong site presence and is focused on ensuring electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. While you'll review engineering documentation when required, the emphasis is on construction support, contractor management, testing, commissioning and successful energisation of critical electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of HV electrical infrastructure from construction through to commissioning and handover.
Provide oversight of electrical contractors, vendors and commissioning teams.
Manage technical queries, site-based engineering issues and design changes.
Monitor construction progress, quality outcomes and commissioning milestones.
Review testing and commissioning documentation, including ITPs, procedures and test records.
Support energisation planning, operational readiness and project handover activities.
Work across substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, HV/LV cabling, solar infrastructure and battery energy systems.
Key Experience
Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
Around 5+ years of experience within construction, major projects or EPC environments.
Strong exposure to HV substations, power distribution systems and electrical infrastructure delivery.
Experience managing contractors during construction and commissioning phases.
Practical understanding of commissioning, energisation and electrical handover processes.
Experience in renewables, mining, transmission or industrial projects will be highly regarded.
Why This Role?
A lot of project engineering positions claim to be "delivery focused" but still end up heavily weighted towards design coordination. This one is different.
You'll be working directly alongside construction and commissioning teams on a major energy infrastructure project, gaining exposure to the client side while remaining close to the action. It's an opportunity to broaden your experience across HV infrastructure, renewables and commissioning without losing the practical project delivery aspects that make the work interesting.
With a competitive hourly rate of
$80–$95 per hour
, a 12-month rolling contract commencing in August, and the chance to work on a high-profile project with genuine scale, it's an opportunity likely to attract engineers who enjoy seeing projects through from construction to energisation.
