Role Summary
Provides senior-level quality inspection expertise for procurement, fabrication, manufacturing, and installation activities. Acts as a subject matter expert in inspection disciplines including rotating equipment, instrumentation, electrical equipment, fixed equipment, and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE). Supports project teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with quality requirements, standards, and inspection programs. Adapted from the uploaded document format.
Key Responsibilities
Promote safety within area of specialty.
Provide a high level of technical expertise in inspection disciplines including rotating equipment, instrumentation, electrical equipment, fixed equipment, and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE).
Advise on quality matters associated with procurement and installation of equipment.
Monitor production processes and conduct surveillance activities in manufacturing and fabrication environments.
Coordinate and oversee activities of third-party and contractor source inspectors.
Perform quality surveillance and inspection activities in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
Provide guidance to suppliers on quality management requirements and review quality documentation for adequacy and accuracy.
Manage interfaces and coordination between suppliers, contractors, quality supervision, engineering, construction, and other project disciplines.
Lead the development and execution of detailed oversight programs for critical equipment inspections and high-risk activities.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), final inspection release activities, quality control documentation reviews, and punch-list closure.
Maintain ongoing communication with Quality Supervision regarding quality issues and inspection status.
Role Scope
Provide leadership and technical expertise for quality inspection activities and assessment of equipment and systems.
Review, validate, and provide input into contractor and supplier inspection, testing, and examination procedures.
Generate, review, and revise operational procedures related to inspection and testing equipment.
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering disciplines during the development and review of drawings, procedures, and project plans.
Support projects through development of method statements and examination techniques for equipment inspections.
Travel to construction and fabrication sites as required to provide technical advice and verify compliance with requirements.
Coordinate activities of third-party inspectors and contractors alongside supplier QA/QC teams.
Conduct audits and assessments of contractor and supplier inspection programs and document findings.
Perform supplementary inspections and verification activities in accordance with Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) and Project Surveillance Plans.
Identify potential quality issues early and provide technical expertise to mitigate and resolve concerns.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in Engineering or Science preferred.
Experience in project construction, quality assurance, quality control, procurement, or construction activities.
Extensive knowledge of quality inspection principles, industry standards, and inspection methodologies.
Strong understanding of supplier quality management and contractor oversight.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical requirements and work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
Working Conditions
Office, fabrication shop, manufacturing facility, and construction site environments.
Periodic travel may be required to supplier, fabrication, and project locations.
May require participation in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), inspections, audits, and field surveillance activities.
Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required to support project activities.
