Instrument Control System Lead Engineer Position Overview The Instrument Control System Lead Engineer opportunity offers the chance to lead critical ICSS engineering delivery on technically complex floating offshore facilities projects. This position is suited to a highly experienced engineer with strong expertise in control and safeguarding systems across concept, FEED and detailed design phases. The Instrument Control System Lead Engineer will play a key role in driving safe, robust and fit-for-purpose engineering outcomes while supporting multidisciplinary coordination and project execution. This Instrument Control System Lead Engineer position offers strong technical scope, leadership responsibility and exposure to major offshore project work. Role Context This role sits within the oil and gas sector and supports the engineering and delivery of floating offshore facilities, including projects such as CPP, FPSO, FSO and FLNG. The position focuses on ICSS engineering across project phases including conceptual study, FEED and detailed design engineering, with close coordination across topside, hull, living quarters, mooring and SURF interfaces. Key Responsibilities Lead the execution of all Integrated Control and Safeguarding System engineering deliverables in line with project planning and schedule. Lead the development of basis of design, functional specifications, equipment specifications and scopes of work for ICSS packages and related interfaces. Drive safe, fit-for-purpose, robust and cost-effective control and safeguarding system design for floating offshore facilities. Lead ICSS design integration across topside, hull, living quarters, mooring and SURF packages. Review bid engineering and detailed design engineering deliverables prepared by subcontractors and identify technical gaps during project execution. Provide timely technical feedback on subcontractor and specialist engineering deliverables to support compliance with project and operational requirements. Manage and coordinate design changes to engineering deliverables, including technical evaluation and support for management of change processes. Coordinate engineering data and technical information across disciplines, subcontractors, vendors, contractors and external stakeholders to support accurate and timely project delivery. Support follow-on engineering activities by responding to site technical queries and providing technical clarification during execution and delivery. Maintain project documentation and engineering data in line with the project execution plan. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, Instrument and Control, or an equivalent engineering discipline from a recognised institution. Essential: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in offshore facilities such as CPP, FPSO, FSO or FLNG. Essential: Experience in floater control system design across conceptual study, FEED and detailed design engineering. Essential: Minimum 10 years of EPCC project experience within the relevant engineering discipline. Essential: Strong technical capability in ICSS engineering, engineering design, design verification, technical bid evaluation, package follow-up, inspection and testing, and application of codes and standards. Essential: Ability to manage subcontractor scoping, technical reviews, interface coordination and multidisciplinary engineering dependencies. Essential: Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Graduate Engineer, or registered with another recognised professional body such as the UK Council. Desirable: Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate or registration with a recognised professional body.
