Instrument Lead Engineer Position Overview Airswift is recruiting for an Instrument Lead Engineer to support a technically complex offshore facilities project. This Instrument Lead Engineer opportunity is suited to a senior engineering professional with strong experience in field instrumentation, metering systems and subsea hydraulic systems within floating offshore developments. This Instrument Lead Engineer position will appeal to candidates seeking a high-impact technical leadership role in the oil and gas sector. Role Context This position sits within the oil and gas sector and supports the engineering and delivery of floating offshore facilities. The scope includes offshore project environments such as CPP, FPSO, FSO and FLNG, with involvement across conceptual study, FEED and detailed design engineering phases. The role focuses on instrumentation design integration for topside, hull, living quarters, mooring and SURF interfaces within a multidisciplinary project setting. Key Responsibilities Lead the execution of field instrumentation, metering system and subsea hydraulic system engineering deliverables in line with project planning and schedule. Lead the development of basis of design, functional specifications, equipment specifications and scopes of work for field instrumentation, metering systems and hydraulic systems. Drive safe, fit-for-purpose, robust and cost-effective instrumentation engineering solutions for floating offshore facilities. Lead design integration across topside, hull, living quarters, mooring and SURF scopes. Review bid engineering and detailed design engineering deliverables prepared by subcontractors and identify technical gaps during project execution. Provide timely technical feedback on subcontractor and specialist deliverables to support compliance with project and operational requirements and applicable regulations. Manage and coordinate design changes to engineering deliverables, including technical evaluation and support for management of change processes. Coordinate engineering data and technical information across disciplines, subcontractors, vendors, contractors and regulatory parties to support accurate and timely project execution. Support follow-on engineering activities by responding to technical queries, issuing clarifications and assisting with site or yard-related engineering matters. Maintain project documentation and data management in line with the project execution plan. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, including Electrical, Electronics, Electronics – Instrumentation & Control, or an equivalent engineering discipline from a recognised institution. Essential: Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Graduate Engineer, or registered with another recognised professional body. Essential: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in offshore facilities, including CPP, FPSO, FSO or FLNG projects. Essential: Experience in floater instrumentation design across conceptual study, FEED and detailed design engineering. Essential: Minimum 10 years of EPCC project experience within a discipline-specific engineering role. Essential: Strong technical knowledge in field instrumentation, metering systems and hydraulic control systems. Essential: Experience in engineering design, design verification, technical bid evaluation, package follow-up, inspection and testing, subcontractor qualification and multidisciplinary coordination. Desirable: Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate. Desirable: Registration with a recognised professional body such as the UK Council.
