Electrical Engineer Position Overview This opportunity is for an Electrical Engineer to support the planning, execution and delivery of electrical engineering activities during the EPCC phase of topside facilities. The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in reviewing and coordinating engineering deliverables to help ensure safe, fit-for-purpose and cost-effective electrical systems across the project lifecycle. This position offers exposure to technically complex offshore project work with strong multidisciplinary interface and meaningful involvement across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up. The Electrical Engineer role is well suited to candidates seeking a technically focused position within floating offshore facilities. Role Context This role sits within the oil and gas sector and supports the engineering and delivery of floating offshore facilities. The position is focused on topside facilities during the EPCC phase and involves close coordination with detailed design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and start-up activities. The successful Electrical Engineer will work closely with the Lead Electrical Engineer and interface with multidisciplinary project teams. Key Responsibilities Support the Lead Electrical Engineer in the execution of electrical engineering activities across detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up phases. Review and verify electrical engineering deliverables prepared by contractors, subcontractors and vendors against project requirements and applicable standards. Support review of electrical design basis, engineering philosophies, specifications, studies, calculations, drawings, layouts, material take-off and technical requisitions. Monitor engineering deliverable progress, comment resolution, technical query close-out and engineering action close-out in line with project schedule. Support electrical system design review covering power generation, power distribution, protection systems, UPS/DC systems, lighting, earthing, hazardous area requirements and electrical equipment sizing. Coordinate electrical engineering interfaces with process, utilities, marine, ICSS, telecom, mechanical, piping, structural, safety, construction and commissioning teams. Provide technical support during procurement, package follow-up, vendor document review, inspection and testing activities for electrical equipment and systems. Identify design changes, technical issues and interface concerns, and provide input for resolution during project execution and handover activities. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline from a recognised institution. Essential: Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in offshore oil and gas facilities. Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience in EPCC project execution within an electrical engineering discipline role. Essential: Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Graduate Engineer or registered with another recognised professional body. Essential: Strong technical capability in electrical engineering design, calculations, codes and standards, package follow-up, technical bid evaluation, inspection and testing, and multidisciplinary coordination. Desirable: Experience involving FPSO, FSO, FPU, FLNG or similar floating facilities. Desirable: Experience in electrical engineering for floating facilities covering FEED, detailed design review, procurement, construction and commissioning support. Desirable: Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate or registration with a recognised professional body.
