Electrical Lead Engineer Position Overview This Electrical Lead Engineer opportunity is suited to a senior technical professional with strong offshore topside EPCC experience. The role focuses on leading electrical engineering delivery across detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up activities for complex floating offshore facilities. Role Context This position sits within the oil and gas sector and supports the engineering and delivery of floating offshore facilities. The role is focused on topside facilities and covers project phases including detailed design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and operations support. The working environment is highly multidisciplinary, requiring close coordination across engineering, vendor and project interfaces. Key Responsibilities Lead electrical engineering execution for EPCC detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up of topside facilities. Establish and manage electrical design basis, philosophies, specifications, studies, calculations, drawings and key engineering deliverables. Ensure electrical engineering deliverables meet project requirements, applicable codes and standards, regulatory expectations and operational needs. Manage electrical system design covering power generation, power distribution, protection systems, UPS/DC systems, hazardous area requirements, lighting, earthing and equipment sizing. Coordinate electrical interfaces across process, utilities, marine, ICSS, telecom, mechanical, piping, structural, safety, construction and operations disciplines. Review and approve contractor, vendor and package engineering deliverables related to electrical systems and equipment. Lead technical clarifications, technical bid evaluations, vendor follow-up and resolution of electrical engineering issues throughout the EPCC cycle. Manage engineering schedule, deliverable quality, progress, manhours and close-out of discipline actions. Provide technical support to procurement, construction, fabrication, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and handover activities. Support design reviews, risk assessments, value engineering and change management activities. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, including Electrical, Electronics or a related engineering discipline from a recognised institution. Essential: Minimum 15 years’ relevant experience in offshore oil and gas facilities. Essential: Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering for offshore topside facilities, with exposure to FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up. Essential: Minimum 10 years’ experience in EPCC project execution within the electrical engineering discipline. Essential: Strong technical capability in electrical engineering design, design verification, calculations, codes and standards, package technical audit, inspection and testing, and technical bid evaluation. Essential: Experience managing interfaces with EPC contractors, fabrication yards, package vendors, classification societies, client representatives and site teams. Essential: Registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Graduate Engineer, or registered with another recognised professional body. Desirable: Experience as an Electrical Lead Engineer or in an equivalent discipline lead role on an EPCC detailed design project. Desirable: Experience involving FPSO, FSO, FPU, FLNG or similar floating facilities. Desirable: Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate or equivalent recognised professional registration.
