Telecommunication Lead Engineer Position Overview This opportunity is for a Telecommunication Lead Engineer to take ownership of telecommunications systems engineering deliverables on a major offshore engineering project. The Telecommunication Lead Engineer will play a key role in supporting safe, fit-for-purpose, robust and cost-effective facility design and operation. This position offers the chance for a Telecommunication Lead Engineer to contribute across design development, technical review and multidisciplinary coordination within a highly technical oil and gas environment. The role is well suited to a Telecommunication Lead Engineer with strong engineering leadership capability and experience in complex offshore facility delivery. Role Context This role sits within the oil and gas sector and supports floating offshore facilities design and operation. The scope includes telecommunication systems engineering across topside and hull, living quarters, mooring and SURF interfaces. The work covers project engineering execution, detailed design review and support through follow-on engineering activities. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and execution of telecommunication systems engineering deliverables in line with project plans and schedule. Prepare and drive key technical documentation including basis of design, functional specifications, equipment specifications and scope of work for telecommunication systems. Lead design integration across topside and hull, living quarters, mooring and SURF scopes. Review bid engineering and detailed design engineering deliverables prepared by subcontractors and identify technical gaps during project execution. Provide timely technical feedback on detailed design deliverables to ensure alignment with project, operational and applicable regulatory requirements. Manage and coordinate engineering design changes, including technical evaluation and recommendations to support change approval and implementation. Coordinate the exchange of engineering data and technical information across disciplines, vendors, subcontractors, contractors and regulatory stakeholders. Support follow-on engineering by addressing site technical queries, providing clarifications and supporting issue resolution during project delivery. Maintain documentation and data management in line with the project execution plan. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, including Electrical, Electronics, Electronics-Telecommunication or another equivalent engineering discipline from a recognised institution. Essential: Registration with Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Graduate Engineer, or registration with another recognised professional body. Essential: At least 15 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. Essential: Minimum 10 years of experience with topsides detailed design consultants, automation design vendors or EPCC contractors. Essential: Strong engineering management capability and knowledge of relevant design tools, codes and standards. Essential: Ability to identify and address design risk and shortfall. Desirable: Experience in floater design, commissioning or operational environments. Desirable: Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate or registration with a recognised professional body.
