Our client, one of New Zealand’s most established international energy companies, is looking for a motivated
Graduate or Junior Field Operator (Maintenance)
to join their Christchurch Bulk Fuel Terminal. This is a great opportunity to receive full training while working alongside experienced professionals maintaining critical fuel infrastructure that keeps New Zealand moving.
No oil and gas experience? No problem. If you have the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and a strong mechanical aptitude, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
You’ll work as part of a supportive team, learning how to safely inspect, maintain and repair equipment across the fuel terminal. Every day will be different, giving you exposure to a wide range of mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
You’ll be involved in:
Assisting with preventative and breakdown maintenance
Learning to maintain pumps, valves, pipework and fuel storage assets
Supporting terminal operations when required
Working alongside experienced technicians and contractors
Completing maintenance records and safety documentation
Developing practical skills in a highly regulated industry
Building a long-term career within the energy sector
About You
We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn and enjoys working with mechanical equipment.
You may have:
A Level 4 Mechanical Trade qualification, engineering qualification, or be a recent graduate in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
OR practical mechanical experience gained through manufacturing, heavy industry, farming, automotive, marine, engineering or maintenance
Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach
Good communication skills
Basic computer literacy
A strong commitment to health and safety
The ability to work both independently and within a team
Flexibility to work outdoors and occasional after-hours work when operationally required
