Senior Data Engineer

Senior Data Engineer – 6 months contract minimum – Gentofte, Denmark Hybrid – 3 days on site 2 days remote Required: - Advanced experience in data engineering. Strong hands-on experience in Python programming. Skilled in building web applications with Angular (TypeScript) & FastAPI, including securing REST APIs, async processing, observability, & authentication. Proficiency in SQL, PostgreSQL/TimescaleDb databases, & Azure technologies (e.g., Synapse, Storage). Expertise in implementing data streaming solutions using Kafka & handling consumer groups. Experienced in creating robust CI/CD pipelines & deploying solutions within Kubernetes environments. Familiar with Microsoft Entra as an identity provider. You’ll be part of the Data Team where you, together with your colleagues, will take technical ownership of our database & application, drive the end-to-end migration to a modern Azure based ecosystem, & support data solutions used across Danish heat & power operations & our Carbon Capture Storage agenda. Work in Agile, collaborate closely with data owners, & mentor each other while taking end to end ownership from design to support. You’ll play an important role in: Implementing Data Solutions: Designing solutions that align with business requirements & architectural blueprints, ensuring an optimized end-to-end flow for various consumers. Web Application Development: Developing data-intensive web applications using Angular (TypeScript), integrated with a Python FastAPI backend. Data Pipelines: Leveraging advanced tools, including Kafka, to optimize real-time & batch data processing workflows. Cloud Platform Management: Handling database structure & operations in Azure Storage & Azure Synapse, along with expertise in Postgres/TimescaleDb databases. Collaboration & Problem Solving: Proactively identifying & addressing technical challenges, tackling blockers, & ensuring continuous delivery of high-quality technical solutions. DevOps & Kubernetes: Managing CI/CD pipeline deployments & Kubernetes environments for development & production workloads. It’ll be an advantage if you: Have designed & developed Excel Add-ins interacting with FastAPI endpoints. Proven ability to mentor & upskill junior engineers in Agile settings. Strong background in Agile collaboration, including active participation in sprint planning, stand-ups, & retrospectives.
