NES Fircroft is currently recruiting a R&D Glasshouse Technician on behalf of our client, a Global name in the Agricultural Technology industry. The role will be based at a world leading International Research Centre at Jealott’s Hill, Bracknell. This is a contract position for an initial 12 month duration with the possibility of long-term extension. Mon-Fri 36hrs per week. The Role: The purpose of the Research Associate is to support Weed Control Research Biology on the SPS (Secondary Profiling Screen) platform by spraying and maintaining, plants in the glasshouse in order to deliver timely, quality data to herbicide research projects The job holder will work in the Trialling Operations team within Technical Support - Weed Control and will be required to spray and maintain herbicide bioassays in the glasshouse, using established and novel weed screening methods producing biology data to enable project decisions. Responsibilities: Work independently and as part of a team while carrying out experimental work using established and novel screening methods Maintain plants and experimental bays under glasshouse conditions, taking an active, hands-on role in daily upkeep and cleaning (including bay clearing and plant disposal) to ensure optimal trial conditions. Be accountable for work being done with precision, accuracy and efficiency Perform all activities in accordance with the Client's Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy Work efficiently in high-throughput team environment Identify issues, non-conformities and report them Accurately keep records and databases current Can be involved in training of daily tasks Good work ethic and works consistently in performing role Proactive in identifying problems and assists in solving them Shows initiative to improve WOWs of the screening platform Education / Required Experience: BSc Degree or A levels plus experience in a related field preferred General knowledge of plant biology; ideally also with knowledge of weed control and some agronomy. Entry level knowledge of laboratory techniques Experience working within a horticultural or an agricultural production environment could be beneficial Use of Microsoft office programs Good analytical, organisational, and people skills.
