Entity: Technology Job Family Group: HSSE Group Job Description: As ST&S C&CM Manager – Chicago, you will help protect bp’s supply trading and shipping operations by building the crisis, continuity and operational resilience capability needed to keep critical activity moving during disruption. Working closely with senior leaders and teams globally, you will strengthen response plans, test and improve readiness, support live incident response and embed practical lessons that make bp more resilient. This role directly supports bp’s strategy by helping Supply, Trading & Shipping operate safely, reliably and competitively in fast-moving global energy markets, protecting value while enabling growth, innovation and disciplined risk management. Key Accountabilities Lead and continuously improve the ST&S Crisis & Continuity Management programme for Chicago, supporting safe, compliant and resilient operations. Partner with ST&S leaders and stakeholders to identify material disruption risks and ensure effective controls, plans and response arrangements are in place. Own and maintain emergency response, crisis management and business continuity plans aligned to bp standards, regulatory expectations and business priorities. Design and deliver risk-based training and exercises to validate readiness, strengthen response capability and drive measurable improvement. Represent C&CM in relevant operational risk forums, providing clear insight on resilience risks, control effectiveness, lessons learned and improvement actions. Coordinate structured response support during incidents or emerging threats, including customer concern, stakeholder guidance and on-call participation as required. Work across ST&S, bp functions and external partners to strengthen resilience across people, facilities, technology, third parties and critical processes. Monitor programme health, assurance findings, regulatory obligations and action progress, using evidence-based reporting to highlight risks and dependencies. Embed lessons from incidents and exercises into plans, training and ways of working, while coaching colleagues to build confidence and resilience culture. Essential Experience and Qualifications Significant experience in crisis management, business continuity, emergency response or operational resilience, ideally in trading, energy, commodities, financial services, logistics or another time-critical environment. Proven ability to design, implement and improve resilience frameworks, plans, governance and controls across complex, multi-stakeholder organisations. Practical experience supporting live incidents or crises, including assessment, customer concern, coordination, decision support and recovery planning under pressure. Experience developing, maintaining and exercising response and business continuity plans, including business impact analysis, dependency mapping and remediation tracking. Strong understanding of operational risk, control effectiveness, assurance, audit readiness and regulatory expectations relating to resilience and incident response. Strong stakeholder management skills, with credibility to influence and challenge senior leaders, operational teams, risk, compliance, technology, security, communications and external partners. Able to work calmly and effectively in high-pressure, fast-changing situations, prioritising competing demands and progressing decisions with incomplete information. Skilled in preparing clear, evidence-based reports, dashboards, briefings and senior leader updates. Experience designing and delivering training, coaching and exercises for varied audiences, from frontline responders to senior leaders. Knowledge of relevant good practice standards or methodologies; certification such as CBCI, MBCI, CBCP, ISO 22301 or equivalent is desirable but not essential. Energy, trading or shipping experience is strongly preferred; experience in regulated, commercially sensitive or globally connected environments will also be considered. At any time, we have between 250 – 300 ships are on the water for bp enabling us to move around 240 million tonnes of oil, gas and products every year. The operational response and resilience of ST&S is essential to its success. How much do we pay (Base)? $142,000-$215,000 *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
