Title: Intern, Distributed Spacecraft Autonomy BELONG. CONNECT. GROW. with KBR. Around here, we define the future. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Distributed Spacecraft Autonomy (DSA) project aims to develop and mature autonomy for distributed spacecraft missions under NASA STMD. The project consists of three main parts: an on-orbit flight demonstration, a ground-based scalability study, and a Next Gen Swarm Study. The on-orbit flight demonstration will be conducted as a software payload on the Small Satellite Technology Program's Starling project, demonstrating autonomous decision-making in response to measurements of the Earth's ionosphere across a swarm of four satellites. This task also supports and STMD ECI and an ESTO AIST for 3D modeling of the environment. The LUNARIS subproject is to develop and mature software dor the Lunar Autonomous Reconnaissance and Investigation Swarm (LUNARIS) mission. The job entails extending the Core Flight Software (cFS) and developing autonomy algorithms in support of LUNARIS EDUCATION: Ph.D and a minimum of 0-1 year of related experience; or requires an equivalent combination of related training and experience. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Motion Planning; Formal Methods; Astrodynamics; Multi-Disciplinary Optimization; Kalman Filtering Autonomy, planning and scheduling Prior scientific research experience in aeronautics or space related areas Experience with cFS/cFE, C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Python, Linux, git, JiraUS Citizenship Basic Compensation: Jobs on this contract range from $27.21/hour - $40.80/hour. The offered rate will be based on the position, contract affordability, the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and in consideration of internal parity. Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
