Role Description:
The Quality Assurance Specialist supports Client's Quality team providing global inspection, and technical support for Capital Projects and for its Manufacturing facilities. The candidate is accountable for maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring that the organization’s project and maintenance teams maintain compliance with all applicable Albemarle specifications, standards, and drawings as well as Industry codes & standards, and site-specific jurisdictional requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Leads in HSSE and strives to achieve zero recordables.
• Participates in HSSE reviews, permit audits, and housekeeping inspections.
• Drives Client's safety focus striving for a safe shop and site inspection culture.
• Displays and champions the Client Core Values on the project and maintenance team.
• Champions inspection best practices as it pertains to quality related activities.
• Develops and maintains Corporate and Site Inspection forms and standard operating procedures.
• Leads QA/QC process to ensure equipment procured meets technical requirements.
• Manages Source Quality Surveillance (SQS) services to support shop/office inspection activities.
• Supports the development of a global network of competent and experienced SQS Inspectors.
• Effectively advises the capital project management teams on applicable technology and innovation in the field of quality management.
• Provides direct and indirect quality technical support resources (i.e. planning, evaluation, and coverage) to sites for projects, turnarounds, and outages.
• Oversees supplier/vendor quality programs and their implementation in relation to meet the Client requirements.
• Collaborates with project managers and engineers across all disciplines to ensure proper quality protocols are established and monitored throughout the project stages with the proper quality resource and budget.
• Provides technical support to Project and Maintenance Engineers regarding selection of vendors for fabrication of new equipment and/or the repair/modification of existing equipment.
• Maintains QMS processes, tools, templates, and documentation, and monitors system performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provides training, guidance, and quality onboarding/awareness to project teams and contractors, and supports personnel in applying QMS requirements.
• Owns end-to-end management of the ASVL additions, removals, and periodic re-assessment cycles; serves as a primary/Lead Assessor; and manages the approval workflow for justified deviations from the ASVL (e.g., sole-source or emergency procurement).
• Administers the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system across Capital Projects, supporting project Quality resources and collating and trending NCR data for company-wide risk visibility.
• Provides governance of the Request for Information (RFI)/Deviation/Waiver process, escalates significant project risks, and manages the associated data and metrics.
• Facilitates the Corrective Action / Preventative Action (CAPA) process and formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA), ensuring actions are defined, implemented, and verified for effectiveness.
• Reviews and approves Quality Alerts prior to distribution to affected projects and stakeholders.
• Selects and maintains Quality KPIs and drives quality reporting, including leadership dashboards and periodic quality reports.
• Supports development of project Quality Management Plans (QMPs) and monitors customer satisfaction to drive corrective/preventive actions.
Accountabilities:
• Requires suppliers/vendors to incorporate ITP requirements into a project schedule to appropriately monitor the progress of equipment fabrication.
• Addresses and resolves NCRs prior to owner acceptance.
• Supports inspection Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) generating inspection reports to document the test results.
• Ensures criticality rating for engineered equipment are determined and its inspection plan established.
• Provides quality technical support for Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Purchase Orders to ensure the selection process of supplier/vendors identified are qualified to bid, Quality Inspection Plan (QIP) represents all the requirements detailed on the Equipment Data Sheet, and the assigned level of
source inspection meets the equipment criticality ranking.
• Ensures all quality records are completed and transmitted in accordance with the project QA specifications, and required quality records are captured in the project Close-Out Plan.
• Incorporates lessons learned from previous capital projects into the continuous improvement of the QMS.
• Ensures QMS effectiveness through the disciplined application of audits, KPIs, nonconformance trending, and CAPA across the Capital Projects portfolio.
Qualifications:
• Minimum fifteen (15) years of verifiable experience in Project QA/QC roles in a petrochemical or similar industrial environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
