Facility Operator
Permanent | Full‑Time | 14x14 Schedule | 12-hour day and night shifts
A leading company in the environmental and industrial services industry is seeking a Facility Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of its facility. This role is responsible for ensuring waste is received, processed, tracked, and managed in accordance with regulatory requirements, facility approvals, and operating procedures.
The Facility Operator will play a key role in maintaining day-to-day operations while working closely with customers, contractors, sales teams, and fellow operators. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes ownership, and thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment where safety, compliance, and operational excellence are top priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain the facility safely and efficiently in accordance with facility SOPs, regulatory approvals, and maintenance requirements
Understand regulatory and operating approvals, including well classifications and acceptable waste streams
Track and accurately document all incoming and outgoing waste streams in accordance with facility approvals and operating procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility environment
Assist customers with site logistics and provide practical, customer-focused solutions when required
Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers while supporting field sales activitie
Perform routine facility inspections, preventative maintenance, and coordinate third-party contractors as required
Issue Safe Work Permits and ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards
Identify hazards, report incidents, and take corrective action when required
Ensure compliance with emergency response procedures, health and safety policies, environmental regulations, and operating requirements
Maintain current knowledge of facility approvals, licenses, safety procedures, and regulatory documentation
Update and improve standard operating procedures where appropriate
Complete day-to-day administrative duties, including data entry, reporting, ticket filing, and operational documentation
Participate in safety meetings, inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience working in industrial, waste management, oil & gas, construction, or similar environments
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and facility issues
Experience operating heavy equipment, particularly loaders and dozers
Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance
Ability to balance hands-on operational work with administrative responsibilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
