Introduction Brunel is currently seeking a Civil & Structural (C&S) Construction SME Supervisor to support a major LNG expansion project in Kitimat, British Columbia. This role will be a key member of the Construction SME team, providing technical leadership and oversight across all civil and structural construction activities. The project scope includes modularized LNG processing facilities, associated utilities, cooling towers, LNG storage facilities, boil-off gas systems, and supporting infrastructure. As the owner's technical authority for civil and structural construction, you will work closely with EPC contractors, engineering teams, and project stakeholders to ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved work methodologies, engineering specifications, quality requirements, regulatory requirements, and HSSE expectations. You will play a key role in supporting constructability reviews, resolving construction issues impacting schedule, mitigating execution risks, and ensuring alignment between engineering intent and field execution. Responsibilities Serve as the discipline authority for civil and structural construction activities, including earthworks, piling, concrete, structural steel, foundations, drainage, and temporary works. Participate in constructability reviews, workshops, and safety reviews to ensure designs and Work Method Statements are optimized for safe, efficient, and practical construction execution. Review and validate constructability, design intent, and field execution strategies. Review Work Method Statements, Construction Work Packages (CWPs), and Installation Work Packages (IWPs) to ensure alignment with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, project specifications, and HSSE expectations. Provide technical direction on site issues, RFIs, field changes, and non-conformances. Ensure alignment with design basis, codes, standards, and project specifications. Monitor construction progress of key activities and evaluate planned versus actual performance. Proactively identify EPC contractor bottlenecks affecting productivity or sequencing and recommend practical solutions. Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved plans, procedures, specifications, and quality standards. Proactively identify constructability improvements and support implementation opportunities with the EPC contractor. Act as the interface between contractor field engineering personnel and the owner's construction team. Support resolution of technical queries, field changes, and design deviations during construction. Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities impacting construction execution and project performance. Conduct field audits and inspections to verify installation quality and adherence to project requirements. Review quality assurance and quality control activities during execution. Participate in Non-Conformance Report (NCR) investigations, including root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions. Ensure construction activities comply with HSSE requirements, regulatory obligations, and project standards. Promote a safety-first culture and adherence to project requirements. Work closely with engineering, construction, quality, project controls, and EPC contractor teams to support issue resolution and construction execution. Requirements Minimum 15 years of hands-on Civil & Structural construction experience on major capital projects. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent industry experience. Strong Civil & Structural construction and engineering knowledge including foundation and piling systems, reinforced concrete structures, structural steel erection, and earthworks. Demonstrated project execution experience on major greenfield and brownfield projects. Strong understanding of construction sequencing and SIMOPS. Demonstrated experience participating in constructability reviews and developing practical solutions that improve construction execution and minimize rework. Demonstrated ability to proactively identify construction issues impacting schedule and implement timely, effective solutions. Demonstrated experience ensuring construction activities are executed in accordance with approved Work Method Statements, engineering specifications, quality requirements, regulatory requirements, and HSSE expectations. Demonstrated experience reviewing and resolving RFIs, field changes, design deviations, and non-conformances during construction execution. Demonstrated experience working closely with EPC contractors and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues, mitigate risks, and maintain construction performance. Strong understanding of construction quality processes, including field inspections, audits, NCR investigations, and corrective action verification.
