About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced
Subsea & Facilities Lead
to play a key role in one of the UK's most significant energy transition projects. This position will support the delivery and future expansion of a first-of-its-kind
CO₂ transport and storage network
, helping to shape the UK's decarbonisation ambitions.
Working within a multidisciplinary technical team, you will act as the bridge between technical delivery and the wider business, overseeing delivery partners, managing key technical interfaces and engaging with government, regulators and major industry stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional looking to influence a nationally significant infrastructure project from both a technical and strategic perspective.
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight of the appointed engineering delivery partner and subcontractors, ensuring the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing technical oversight of the Phase 1 CO₂ transport and storage network delivery
Acting as the technical representative on interface management committees with major infrastructure stakeholders
Supporting the future expansion of the network, including new pipeline and non-pipeline connections
Developing technical business cases for regulatory submissions
Supporting connection agreements for future users of the network
Coordinating technical input across commercial, regulatory and operational functions
Leading technical engagement with shareholders, government departments and regulators
Chairing technical update meetings with key external stakeholders
Supporting governance activities, board papers and technical committee meetings
Facilitating collaboration between shareholders and engineering delivery partners
About You
We're looking for an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in major energy infrastructure projects.
You'll ideally have experience across:
Onshore pipelines and facilities
Subsea infrastructure
Wells and subsurface assets
Major capital projects throughout the full asset lifecycle
Complex engineering contracts and procurement
Stakeholder management across technical, commercial and regulatory functions
UK energy regulations and governance
You will be comfortable communicating complex technical information to a wide range of audiences and have experience working with senior stakeholders across industry and government.
Essential Requirements
Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Proven track record delivering complex engineering projects safely
Strong understanding of integrated energy infrastructure, including:
Onshore pipelines
Process facilities
Subsea systems
Wells and subsurface assets
Experience across the full project lifecycle
Procurement experience from RFI through to contract close-out
Experience managing complex contracts and licences
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Desirable Experience
Chartered Engineer or relevant professional accreditation
Experience within
CCUS / Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage
Knowledge of
CO₂ transportation and storage networks
Offshore and onshore project delivery experience within the UK
Experience working with UK regulators including
DESNZ, Ofgem, NSTA, OPRED and HSE
Joint Venture experience
Corporate governance and committee experience
Familiarity with major capital project stage-gate processes
