Senior Hse Advisor

We are seeking an experienced Senior HSE Advisor to provide frontline health, safety and environmental leadership across a major LNG operation on Curtis Island. This is a senior, site-facing position supporting operations, maintenance, projects and major contractors within a complex, high-risk operating environment. You will provide practical HSE advice, verify critical controls and work closely with frontline leaders to ensure work is planned and executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements. The Opportunity This position offers the opportunity to play a key role within a major LNG operation, working directly with operational leaders and frontline teams to improve HSE performance and strengthen the safe execution of work. The Role As a senior member of the site HSE team, you will: Provide expert HSE advice to operations, maintenance, turnaround and project teams. Coach leaders, supervisors and contractors to strengthen HSE ownership and accountability. Lead field engagements, safety conversations, inspections and critical control verification activities. Support Permit to Work, JSA, Management of Change and risk assessment processes. Review and endorse high-risk work activities, including confined space entry, hot work, working at heights, lifting and isolations. Conduct HSE audits, inspections and assurance activities, ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented and sustainably closed. Lead or support incident investigations using TapRooT or an equivalent investigation methodology. Identify systemic causes, communicate lessons learned and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions. Conduct health risk assessments and interpret occupational exposure monitoring results against applicable Queensland Workplace Exposure Standards. Analyse HSE data, audit findings and monitoring results to identify trends, emerging risks and improvement opportunities. Support occupational health, psychosocial hazard management, process safety and environmental monitoring programs. Assist with emergency response planning, exercises and incident management readiness. Prepare clear and defensible reports, technical advice and briefing materials suitable for leadership, regulators, insurers and legal representatives. Mentor HSE team members and contribute to broader HSE improvement initiatives. About You You will be an experienced HSE professional who is comfortable operating in the field, influencing senior stakeholders and making sound decisions within a major hazard facility environment. To be considered, you will require: A bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline. A minimum of 8–10 years’ HSE experience within LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, upstream production or another high-risk operating environment. Demonstrated experience working within an operational LNG facility, refinery or major hazard facility. Strong knowledge of Queensland workplace health and safety and environmental legislation. Experience applying HSE and operational management systems, programs and procedures. TapRooT Lead Investigator certification, or an equivalent qualification, with experience leading complex investigations. Strong technical capability across health, safety, environmental management and emergency response. Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections and critical control verification. The ability to interpret HSE performance data and communicate clear, practical recommendations. Strong stakeholder management, coaching and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including incident reporting and executive briefings. The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently within a demanding operational environment. A valid driver’s licence and the ability to meet medical and fitness-for-work requirements. Highly Regarded The following experience or qualifications will be viewed favourably: More than 10 years’ onsite HSE experience within energy, resources, construction or manufacturing. Experience working under Major Hazard Facility and Safety Case regulatory regimes. Exposure to Process Safety Management. Professional HSE certification or membership, such as AIHS, CSP or NEBOSH. Previous experience within an LNG operating environment or on Curtis Island.
