Laboratory Technician II Location: Richmond, California Contract: 6 Months (Potential Extension) Rate: $30-$35 per hour About the Opportunity We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician II to join a leading research and development laboratory supporting innovation within the energy and industrial sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist or laboratory professional looking to expand their experience in analytical chemistry, laboratory operations, and advanced testing technologies. The successful candidate will work alongside scientists and researchers, conducting analytical testing on complex samples while contributing to cutting-edge research initiatives. Key Responsibilities Perform routine analytical testing and laboratory analyses on crude oil, fuels, petroleum products, and related materials. Set up, operate, calibrate, maintain, and clean laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Conduct wet chemistry procedures, sample preparation, and solvent handling activities. Analyze test results and verify compliance with established quality standards and specifications. Collect, organize, and document analytical data accurately. Generate reports using charts, graphs, and written summaries. Support scientists and researchers by completing assigned testing and laboratory tasks within established timelines. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment. Follow laboratory procedures, quality protocols, and safety standards. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in: Chemistry Biology Chemical Science Environmental Science Related scientific discipline Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and analytical testing techniques. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. High level of professionalism and integrity. Preferred Qualifications 2-4 years of analytical laboratory experience. Experience working in commercial, industrial, research, or quality control laboratories. Exposure to petroleum, chemical, energy, environmental, or manufacturing industries. Experience with advanced analytical instrumentation.
