We currently have an opportunity for a Lead Process Engineer - MAF Refinery role. This position is based in Muscat, Oman. For further information about this position please apply. Minimum requirements Total experience: 15+ years in Oil & Gas (Downstream) +15 Years relevant experience in similar role Lead Process Engineer within the Oil & Gas / Refinery industry, preferably with experience in CDU, Platformer/CCR, and Hydrotreating units (DHDS, NHTU, PENEX, etc.). 5+ years relevant experience as process engineer in Platformer/CCR units & Hydrotreating unit. 5+ years relevant experience as process engineer in CDU, LPG Merox, Amine recovery unit and Sulphur recovery unit. 5+ years relevant experience in Desalination process. Experience and well versed in field investigation, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc. Understanding of Process Plant (P& ID / PFD) & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals. Knowledge in software applications like OSI-PI and LIMS etc. Hands-On Experience in use of Simulation Tools like ASPEN Engineering Suite Products, PETROSIM etc Knowledge in Refinery and Aromatic Complex operations (Process, Static & Rotating Equipment) Knowledge in HSE (Process Safety, H2S Awareness, Basic Fire Fighting, Emergency Response) Knowledge of DCS systems. Good knowledge and expertise of SAP. Computer knowledge in MS Office applications like MS Word, MS excel etc. Experience of benchmarking studies like Solomon. Experience in Asset Master data governance. Sound judgment in technical matters with good skills in engineering field materials specifications and international standards. Familiar with techniques for ensuring data integrity with various integration of information/ reports. Relevant experience in similar role Lead Process Engineer within the Oil & Gas / Refinery industry, preferably with experience in CDU, Platformer/CCR, and Hydrotreating units (DHDS, NHTU, PENEX, etc.). Relevant experience as process engineer in Platformer/CCR units & Hydrotreating unit. Relevant experience as process engineer in CDU, LPG Merox, Amine recovery unit and Sulphur recovery unit. Relevant experience in Desalination process. Provides strong professional technical expertise for the Leadership, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process engineering-based activities at Sohar Refinery – Downstream Omani Assets, under TL Process Engineering scope’s, through; (1) Leading the resolution of complex operational problems in Sohar refinery, Identifying opportunities to optimize the operation in Sohar Refinery, and (3) (3) Guidance and support to the operations and the corresponding engineering, maintenance, and operation teams; in order to ensure projects and service targets are achieved efficiently and to optimum standards. Providing timely technical solutions to improve the refinery’ gross margins through OPEX optimization and proactive monitoring to ensure archive the rolling plan target in terms of quality and volume. Leads the analysis of data and identifies opportunities to optimize operations within and across process units or equipment. Participates in complex design work conducted by internal or external engineering resources and reviews it to fit with design intent. Resolves issues that have a direct business impact, using advanced problem-solving tools and techniques and balancing multiple considerations (e.g. economic, operating, maintenance, technical). Utilizes and develops process simulation tools. Validate and maintain up to date Unit simulation models. Develops Heat and Material Balances, Process Flow Diagrams, designs minor plant modifications, follows through to project completion. Appraises plants’ operations by using simulation and modelling techniques and identifies opportunities for optimization improvements. Performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and proposes corrective actions for performance improvement. Participates in HAZOP studies for any modification of existing facilities at MAF Refinery. Preparation of preliminary documents for tender submissions. Prepare Technical and Commercial evaluation reports and make recommendations to management on Catalyst Chemicals purchase Develops technical procedures in line with modifications and new systems implemented. Validate the designs, analysis or finding of Junior/Senior staff. Technical Authority responsible for Functional Review of Management of Change (MoC) Regular liaison with the catalyst & technology vendors/engineering contractors to review industry trends, improve unit performance, profitability, operability & opportunities for new investments. Reviews the Monthly/Quarterly reports prepared by Process Engineers. Provide the input into budget preparation under the guidance of Team Leader. Contribute to improving processes and procedure within the department in conjunction with Team Leader. Initiates self-improvement plans and expedites learning trough the participation in effective training programmes.
