Instrumentation Engineer (French Speaking)
Waste-to-Energy Projects | Belgium - Brussels | Hybrid Working
Join a leading engineering team delivering innovative waste-to-energy facilities across Europe.
We're looking for an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to support the design, specification, installation and commissioning of instrumentation systems for large-scale thermal energy and waste-to-energy plants. The role combines engineering design, supplier management, site support and troubleshooting across complex industrial environments.
The Role
As an Instrumentation Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring critical measurement and control systems are correctly designed, implemented and optimised throughout the project lifecycle.
You will work on instrumentation associated with:
Steam and condensate networks
Boilers and thermal systems
Flue gas treatment systems
Process utilities
Emissions monitoring systems
Plant control and automation systems
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop instrumentation solutions for industrial energy facilities.
Produce and maintain P&IDs, instrument lists and technical specifications.
Select and specify instrumentation including flowmeters, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, analyzers and control valves.
Support control system integration with DCS and PLC platforms.
Review supplier proposals and provide technical evaluation.
Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and performance testing activities.
Troubleshoot technical issues and support optimisation of plant measurement and control systems.
Coordinate with process, electrical and mechanical engineering teams throughout project delivery.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Energy Engineering or similar.
Experience within industrial process, energy, power generation, biomass, waste-to-energy or related sectors.
Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
Experience with steam systems and steam flow measurement.
Experience working with ultrasonic flowmeters.
Knowledge of DCS/PLC architectures and industrial communication networks.
Ability to read and develop P&IDs and control documentation.
Fluent French.
Technical English for supplier and project communication.
Desirable
Experience with Profibus and Modbus.
Knowledge of ATEX and industrial safety standards.
Experience with CEMS and emissions monitoring systems.
Familiarity with engineering tools such as AVEVA, COMOS, AutoCAD or EPLAN.
Previous EPC or large industrial project experience.
