About Wells Solution Fluids Laboratory The team provides technical services to support drilling and completion operations globally and works closely with the Oil and Gas Technology team to evaluate new products and tools to improve efficiency. The Senior Laboratory Technologist provides technical guidance and implements advanced testing programs under the guidance of the Fluids Laboratory Manager, ensuring alignment with project goals and safety standards. The role holder operates a range of high-pressure, high-temperature equipment, rheometers, core flood equipment, and performs analytical testing. The position requires strong technical and industry knowledge of fluid and formation damage testing. The role will collaborate closely with internal teams and global stakeholders and will report to the Fluids Laboratory Manager. Deliver safe, standards-compliant experimental operations and contribute to the development of HSSE expectations aligned with bp's goals. Responsibilities Lead and implement advanced laboratory testing programs, including experiments under high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions, rheology profiling, and formation damage assessments. Design experiments, analyze data, interpret results, and present findings with recommendations to stakeholders. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to laboratory technologists, ensuring consistent knowledge transfer and skill development. Lead laboratory safety initiatives, ensuring COSHH and Risk Assessments are reviewed regularly. Support the Fluids Laboratory Manager with equipment maintenance, calibration, and statutory inspections to ensure accurate and reliable operation. Collaborate with laboratory specialists and other disciplines, including Fluids, Cementing, and Technology teams, to provide laboratory and technical support. Required Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant science or engineering discipline, or an equivalent qualification with five or more years of relevant experience. Industry knowledge of API 13B-1 and API 13B-2 standards and formation damage testing procedures is desirable. Sound understanding of engineering and instrumentation requirements, with strong knowledge of safety standards. Proven ability to manage multiple activities and projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational and project management skills. Strong experience in implementing and maintaining laboratory safety processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels.
