The Geospatial Data Engineering will be a senior technical resource within the Specialty Operations Infrastructure organization at Chevron ENGINE. This role provides technical authority, governance oversight, and engineering-level validation for PODS (Pipeline Open Data Standard) data and related GIS integrations that support pipeline integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational use cases. This position is responsible for PODS data model governance, technical assurance (V&V), gap resolution, and integration support, ensuring PODS remains a reliable, compliant system of record for pipeline spatial and attribute data. Key responsibilities: PODS Governance & Technical Authority Serve as the technical authority for PODS data standards, structure, and governance across ENGINE-supported assets. Define, maintain, and enforce PODS data standards, validation rules, and governance workflows in alignment with PODS specifications and Chevron requirements. Review and approve data model changes, extensions, or exceptions to ensure long-term sustainability and consistency. Data Validation, Verification & Quality Assurance Perform engineering-level verification and validation (V&V) of PODS data loads and imported data, migrations, and updates to ensure technical correctness, traceability, and fitness for integrity and regulatory use. Lead investigation and resolution of systemic data gaps, conflicts, or quality issues identified through audits, integrity analyses, or stakeholder feedback. Establish and maintain data quality metrics, acceptance criteria, and control checks for PODS content. Engineering & Integrity Enablement Partner with Engineering, Integrity Management, Compliance, and Operations SMEs to ensure PODS data accurately supports: Integrity assessments and re-assessments Event, inspection, and anomaly workflows Risk Model Analysis Regulatory reporting and audit evidence Translate engineering and integrity requirements into PODS-compliant data structures and rules. Integration & Technical Support Support technical integration between PODS, GIS platforms, integrity tools, and downstream consumers (e.g., reporting, dashboards, analytics). Provide technical guidance to Geospatial Data Analysts and other data contributors on proper data population, attribute usage, and dependency impacts. Support future data remediation or onboarding efforts by designing repeatable, controlled cleanup and loading approaches. Audit & Regulatory Support Provide technical defensibility for PODS data during internal and external audits by: Explaining data lineage, validation controls, and governance decisions Supporting responses to regulator questions tied to spatial and asset data accuracy Required Qualifications: Engineering degree or equivalent technical background (e.g., Civil, mechanical, or any other relevant engineering streams). 7+ years of experience supporting pipeline data, integrity systems, or engineering data governance. Deep experience with PODS data model and how it supports pipeline lifecycle, integrity, and compliance workflows. Strong understanding of pipeline integrity concepts (e.g., segments, events, inspections, HCAs) and how data is used in regulatory contexts. Demonstrated experience performing technical data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting regulated pipeline assets and audits (PHMSA, state regulators). Familiarity with GIS platforms, spatial databases, and enterprise data integration patterns. Experience establishing or operating within data governance frameworks. Ability to clearly explain complex technical data issues to engineering, compliance, and non-technical stakeholders. Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
