Job Summary As a Systems Administrator, you will support KBR’s Integrated Fires Laboratory as a hands-on technical professional responsible for administering and maintaining secure laboratory environments in support of Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Fires mission activities. This role focuses on the operation, integration, and sustainment of classified networked systems, including Windows and Linux platforms, network infrastructure, cybersecurity compliance, and system accreditation activities. The Systems Administrator will work closely with engineers, cybersecurity professionals, IT personnel, and government stakeholders to support integrated systems and network operations within classified DoW environments. Responsibilities include supporting system installations, network operations, and cybersecurity initiatives. The position is a fully funded, full-time on contractor site role located in Huntsville, AL just outside of Redstone Arsenal Gate 9 in Redstone Gateway. Roles and Responsibilities Administer, configure, and maintain classified Local Area Network (LAN)/ Wide Area Network (WAN) systems and environments supporting lab operations. Serve as an administrator for network-centric system components, including switches, routers, firewalls, and connected server infrastructure. Perform day-to-day system administration for Windows and Linux systems operating within secure, segmented network environments. Support system and network integration activities for new hardware, software, and laboratory upgrades. Apply and maintain operating system and network security configurations in accordance with DoW Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and cybersecurity requirements. Support cybersecurity and accreditation activities by developing and maintaining system and network configuration documentation, artifacts, and technical inputs. Monitor system and network health, troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, and coordinate corrective actions to support mission execution. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system diagrams, network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Collaborate closely with engineers, IT personnel, cybersecurity teams, and government users to support operational requirements. Participate in system installations, patch management cycles, maintenance windows, technology refresh activities, and test event preparations. Support secure laboratories and test environments to ensure system availability, compliance, and operational readiness. Basic Qualifications U.S. Citizenship is required. Active/current Secret Security Clearance is required. Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited U.S. institution with a minimum of 5 years of relevant systems administration, networking, or IT infrastructure experience. Or 10+ years of relevant experience along with the preferred certifications. Experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems in enterprise or classified environments. Experience supporting networked systems, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, and maintaining secure environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create technical documentation and interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Enjoy working in a dynamic, responsive, and collaborative environment, and dedicated to the success of our government customers. DoD 8570/8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification or higher, including: CompTIA Security+ CE CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) Higher-level certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Proficient with Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Familiarity with Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), system automation, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), version control, security scanning, configuration management, and compliance monitoring within secure environments.
