Entity: Technology Job Family Group: IT&S Group Job Description: Head of Global SAP Platforms About the role bp is undertaking a multi-year transformation of its global ERP landscape, transitioning from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA through RISE with SAP. This role combines operational leadership with technology strategy, ensuring business-critical SAP services remain reliable while supporting one of bp's largest transformation programmes. As a member of both the SAP leadership team and the Quantum programme leadership team, the role will help shape platform decisions, technology investments, and the future SAP roadmap across bp. Accountable for the operation, stability, security, and strategic evolution of bp's global ERP estate, the role is responsible for the core SAP platforms, common services, and shared capabilities supporting bp's enterprise ERP landscape, including SAP ECC hosted on AWS, SAP RISE and S/4HANA transformation environments, Core SAP platform services and tooling, Enterprise integration capabilities, Shared ERP platform resources and operations Transformation Leadership The SAP transformation programme is underway and is expected to continue through 2030. Key landmarks include: Migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA through SAP RISE. Initial systems already live in the RISE environment. Delivery expected to accelerate from Q4 2026. Central Finance (CFIN) planned to become the system of record from Q1 2027. The role provides strategic and operational leadership throughout this transformation. Team and Operating Model bp has established a global SAP capability across Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Pune, India, London, United Kingdom, Houston, United States covering SAP ERP platform expertise, SAP SaaS solution support, AI capabilities, Integration services, Master Data Management, Cash and Banking services. The role is responsible for shared platform resources deployed across ERP initiatives and works closely with Accenture, bp's primary systems integration partner. Manages a team of approximately 80 bp employees., in collaboration with approximately 300+ 3rd party resources. Responsible for a budget of USD 100 million, including transformation investments. Supports business-critical ERP services used globally across bp. Key Relationships The role partners closely with SAP application support teams across business units. ERP Transformation Programme leadership. Technology leadership teams and other strategic service providers. SAP account teams and solution specialists. Procurement and Software Asset Management teams. Enterprise Architecture and cybersecurity teams What You Will Deliver SAP Platform Strategy and Roadmap - Define, develop, & maintain the SAP platform roadmap. Align platform investments with business priorities and enterprise architecture direction. Maximise value from SAP RISE and related technology lifecycle, upgrades, and end-of-service risks. Introduce new SAP capabilities that support business outcomes. Operational Leadership and Delivery - Lead day-to-day operations, Oversee delivery of platform and infrastructure projects. Lead People, budgets, schedules, dependencies, risks, and resources. Ensure effective collaboration across teams, suppliers, and business collaborators. Promote agile ways of working and continuous learning environment. Security, Resilience, and Availability - Own security, availability, recoverability, and operational resilience across SAP platforms. Ensure compliance with bp standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain robust disaster recovery and continuity capabilities. Drive proactive risk management for critical systems. Modernisation and Transformation - Lead platform modernisation initiatives across the SAP landscape. Support integration with the wider technology ecosystem. Promote automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices. Improve speed, consistency, quality, and efficiency. Governance and Risk Management - Establish and maintain governance frameworks and security standards. Ensure alignment with enterprise technology and cyber security policies. Provide executive-level insights on operational, technology, and cyber risks. Drive investment and prioritisation decisions. Supplier and Partner Management - Lead relationships with strategic suppliers and technology partners. Ensure delivery commitments, service quality, and value outcomes are achieved. Balance capacity, capability, and business demand across teams. Drive accountability and continuous improvement across partners. Financial Management - Own platform budget planning, forecasting, and expenditure management. Supervise financial performance and investment outcomes. Support prioritisation decisions through accurate reporting and analysis. Ensure effective cost management across the platform estate.
