Contract Earthworks Front Line Supervisor Location: Christina Lake & Christina Lake North, Alberta (Camp-Based Role) Duration: 12-Month Contract with Potential Extension Experience Level: Senior About the Role Our Oil and Gas client is seeking an experienced Contract Earthworks Front Line Supervisor to oversee earthworks and civil construction activities at the Christina Lake site. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution while coordinating contractors, managing field activities, and maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will bring extensive earthworks and civil construction experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to manage large crews in a fast-paced oil sands environment. Key Responsibilities Supervise and oversee contractor earthworks and civil construction operations. Review job execution plans and ensure all requirements are understood and met before work begins. Monitor project safety, productivity, quality, and compliance with established standards. Communicate and resolve field issues, deficiencies, and barriers impacting project execution. Ensure contractors and workers receive required orientations and mentorship support. Conduct inspections, audits, and spot checks of equipment, personnel, and work practices. Intervene in unsafe work practices and exercise stop-work authority when necessary. Verify project schedules, identify conflicts, and communicate required adjustments to stakeholders. Complete daily reports, activity logs, SiteView entries, ticket verification, and performance reporting. Inspect completed work to ensure specifications and quality standards are achieved. Obtain permits as required and maintain project documentation, including photos and videos. Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in competency assurance programs. Qualifications & Experience Legally entitled to work in Canada. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with appropriate vehicle and liability insurance. Minimum 10 years of experience in civil earthworks construction. Strong background in: Surveying and Site Scouting Estimating and scheduling Borrow pit management Logging operations Construction in various ground conditions Knowledge of Alberta regulations, industry codes, and standards related to the Oil & Gas sector. Experience working in boreal forest environments and winter construction operations. Previous leadership experience as a Foreman, Lead Operator, or Supervisor managing crews of 25+ personnel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SiteView experience is considered an asset. Pre-assignment drug and alcohol testing will be required in accordance with policy. The position is camp-based and requires a strong commitment to safe work practices and operational excellence.
