Fuel your passion As a Lead Engineer Mechanical Components – Hot Gas Path Stator Components SME, you will serve as a key technical contributor and subject matter expert supporting the design, validation, qualification, performance improvement, and lifecycle management of gas turbine hot gas path stator components, including nozzles, shrouds, compressor vanes, and related hardware. You will lead and coordinate technical activities across a variety of technology development, fleet support, product improvement, qualification, and cost-out initiatives while working closely with cross-functional teams, global engineering centers, and engineering service suppliers. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges, influence technical decisions, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support the development of advanced engineering methods and digital solutions. The position aligns with the Baker Hughes Lead Engineer career level, requiring independent execution, technical leadership, and collaboration across functions to achieve business objectives. As a Lead Engineer Mechanical Components – Hot Gas Path Stator Components SME, you will be responsible for: Leading and executing engineering activities related to gas turbine hot gas path (HGP) stator components, including nozzles, shrouds, compressor vanes and associated assemblies, while acting as the technical focal point and subject matter expert for component design, analysis, qualification, durability, fleet support, and cross-functional New Product Development, Ready To Serve and Requisition projects. Leading or coordinating technical workstreams within strategic projects, including component technology development, product growth programs, repair development projects, fleet modernization efforts, and supporting rotor component activities, including blades and buckets, when required by business priorities. Applying sound engineering principles to evaluate product designs, identify risks, assess component life, and support technical decision-making, while developing innovative solutions to improve product reliability, durability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost competitiveness. Supporting component qualification and certification activities, including test planning, technical assessments, results interpretation, certification documentation, and participation in technical, design, qualification, and project gate reviews. Providing technical support for non-conformance investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and field issue resolution, ensuring effective technical recommendations and risk mitigation. Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, including design engineering, rotor engineering, materials engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, repair engineering, and systems engineering organizations to achieve technical and program objectives. Communicating technical findings, recommendations, risks, and project status to engineering leadership and business stakeholders, while coordinating engineering assignments with external suppliers and service providers and ensuring compliance with engineering requirements and quality standards. Supporting the creation, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement of engineering standards, design practices, repair instructions, technical guidelines, digital engineering tools, process automation solutions, and data-driven engineering methods To be successful in this role you will: Have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) and rich experience in gas turbine HGP components. Demonstrate experience in engineering analysis methods, including finite element analysis (FEA), structural assessment, lifing methodologies, and interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
