What’s the role The Terminal Operator – Fixed Term Montreal is part of a 13-person team dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient operations that support Shell’s fuel customers in the local market. Maintaining compliance with Shell policies, regulatory requirements, and the Shell Code of Conduct, while upholding our License to Operate, is essential to the role. As a key member of the terminal operations team, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day receipt, storage, handling, and distribution of railcar products. The role serves as an important interface with local rail companies and carriers and includes railcar loading and unloading, truck loading rack operations, terminal surveillance, and maintenance activities to ensure safe and reliable operations. The Montreal Terminal receives refined products, including gasoline, distillates, and biofuels, via pipeline, marine, rail, and truck, and distributes products through the same transportation modes. The facility consists of a Truck/Rail Terminal (Light Oil Terminal - LOT), a satellite tank farm (Montreal-East Terminal - MET), and Wharf 103 (leased from the Port of Montreal). The local team comprises 6 staff employees and 7 hourly employees. While the terminal operates 24/7 with Terminal Operators working rotating shifts, this role follows a Monday to Friday day-shift schedule. Occasional overtime may be required. The position is represented by Unifor Local 121. Accountabilities Maintaining compliance with company procedures and government regulations related to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental) and various agency permits Physical loading and offloading of railcars Truck loading ramp attendant Providing general maintenance and housekeeping in support of terminal assets to ensure a safe, secure, and environmentally sound operation Executing terminal surveillance to ensure sound process safety. Ability to solve loading rack and other terminal systems malfunctions. Accountable for compliance with company and regulatory procedures in the execution of the job such as: Compliance with the Safety, Environmental and Asset Management (SEAM) Standards Compliance with the Global Terminal Operations Manual Compliance with the Distribution Measurement Manual Standard and local operating procedures What you bring Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer High school diploma Business fluency in French Must possess a valid Driver's license Computer skills, Excel, word, email, texting Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Must be a team player Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation Physically capable of loading and unloading railcars, including unbolting manways and hose manipulation.
