Job Title: Materials/Corrosion Specialist Duration: September 2026 to 28 February 2028 Schedule: Location: Milan, Italy This opportunity supports a major detail design EPC project focused on water handling and injection facilities within the oil and gas sector. The role is centred on metallurgy, corrosion management, risk-based inspection and coating systems, with responsibility for reviewing vendor technical documentation and supporting technical clarification activities. This position offers involvement across project lifecycle activities that directly influence safety, reliability and long-term asset integrity. Required Education: Bachelor Degree in an Engineering discipline Required Experience: Minimum 20+ years of experience developing corrosion management programmes Strong background in the oil and gas or petrochemical project environment Experience developing corrosion monitoring systems, including on-stream inspections (OSI) and in-line inspections (ILI) Experience applying risk-based inspection methodologies based on API-580 Experience reviewing detailed design vendor packages for new and existing facilities in metallurgy and corrosion management Experience participating in technical bid evaluation and post-purchase order manufacturer document review processes Experience developing and updating Corrosion Control Documents across the project lifecycle Experience conducting corrosion surveys, identifying high-risk areas and recommending corrective actions Experience troubleshooting corrosion issues using root cause failure analysis Experience developing and implementing corrosion control and mitigation strategies for in-plant assets and pipelines Required Skills: Deep working knowledge of corrosion management, corrosion loops and damage mechanisms Strong knowledge of coating plans, coating failure solutions and cathodic protection planning Good working knowledge of company standards, procedures and international standards Familiarity with APCS coating systems, applications and limitations Ability to evaluate corrosion monitoring system data and draw sound technical conclusions Ability to review rotating equipment datasheets and supporting technical documentation Ability to participate in technical clarification meetings with vendors Capability to perform Management of Change activities related to metallurgy and corrosion management Ability to develop dashboards including Integrity Operating Windows and KPIs Advanced MS Office skills Good English communication skills, written and verbal Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning and organisational skills Ability to communicate openly and effectively in multicultural project environments Preferred Qualifications: NACE Specialist Certification (Preferred) NACE Corrosion Technologist (Preferred) NACE CP Level II (Preferred) API-571 knowledge or certification (Preferred) Active affiliation with professional societies such as IMechE, ASME, API, ISO, NACE or TWI (Preferred) About Airswift: Airswift is an international workforce solutions provider within the energy, process and infrastructure industries.
