Entity: Technology Job Family Group: IT&S Group Job Description: Enterprise technology engineer Experience: 4–8 years Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Enterprise Technology Engineer to design, develop, automate, and operate secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platform capabilities. The role involves building reusable Azure services and APIs, implementing platform automation, strengthening security and networking controls, and troubleshooting complex performance and reliability issues. The successful candidate will work closely with application, security, networking, architecture, and operations teams to deliver enterprise-grade Azure platform solutions. Job Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available Azure platform services. Build reusable platform capabilities that enable application teams to provision and consume Azure services efficiently. Develop automation using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, or similar scripting technologies. Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent technologies. Design and develop REST APIs and platform integrations for provisioning, governance, monitoring, and operational workflows. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools. Implement Azure security controls, including identity and access management, managed identities, role-based access control, network security, secrets management, and policy enforcement. Configure and troubleshoot Azure networking components, including virtual networks, subnets, private endpoints, private DNS, network security groups, routing, load balancers, application gateways, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity. Investigate platform performance bottlenecks, service failures, network connectivity issues, authentication problems, API errors, and resource constraints. Perform root-cause analysis for complex platform incidents and implement permanent corrective and preventive measures. Develop monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and related services. Improve platform reliability through resilience engineering, capacity planning, performance optimisation, disaster recovery, and automated remediation. Implement governance standards using Azure Policy, management groups, subscriptions, resource tagging, and cost-management controls. Assess new Azure services and recommend their adoption based on security, scalability, performance, reliability, and cost. Maintain platform documentation, design standards, operational procedures, reusable templates, and troubleshooting guides. Participate in architecture and system design discussions, translating business and technical requirements into sustainable cloud solutions. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering, security, and operational standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve platform dependencies and enable smooth application onboarding. Coach junior engineers and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement. Communicate technical risks, design decisions, and operational issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Job Qualifications 4–8 years of relevant experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or a similar role. Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and operating solutions on Microsoft Azure. Practical knowledge of key Azure services, including compute, storage, networking, identity, databases, monitoring, integration, and security services. Strong automation and scripting skills using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, Bash, or similar technologies. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates. Experience developing and integrating REST APIs, including authentication, authorisation, error handling, versioning, and monitoring. Strong understanding of Azure networking, including private connectivity, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, and hybrid network architectures. Good understanding of Azure security, Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, RBAC, Key Vault, Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and security best practices. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools. Proficiency with Git-based source control and collaborative software-development practices. Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Kusto Query Language, dashboards, and alerts. Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex platform bottlenecks, latency issues, service limits, resource exhaustion, connectivity failures, and application-to-platform integration problems. Strong understanding of high availability, resilience, disaster recovery, backup, scalability, and capacity-management principles.
