Job Title: Civil Specialist Duration: 18 Months Location: Milan, Italy This opportunity supports a major oil and gas petrochemical project in the detail design phase, focused on water handling, treatment and injection facilities. The role offers involvement across EPC and FEED activities with a strong emphasis on civil and structural engineering, detailed design, foundations, structural steel and specialist structures. This position will contribute to technically complex project delivery while supporting compliance with recognised engineering codes, standards and project specifications. Key Responsibilities: Lead, review, assess and manage the scope of work for allocated FEED and EPC packages under delegated project direction. Review, participate in, guide and manage contractor development of scope within relevant work entity releases during the FEED phase. Supervise civil and structural engineering execution in detailed design activities. Produce calculations for heavy equipment foundations, buildings and steel structures. Carry out analysis and design of modular steel structures, including sea transportation, lifting, skidding, load-out and stress analysis. Design structural steel and precast pipe racks. Design technological steel structures and process plant structures. Design blast resistant buildings. Design machine foundations for compressors, table top equipment, pumps and similar systems. Design equipment foundations for exchangers, coolers, process columns, steel stacks, horizontal vessels and pipe supports. Design specialist structures such as chimneys, natural draught cooling towers, pre-stressed bridges and arch bridges. Review drawings, specifications and calculations to ensure compliance with applicable codes, engineering practices and standards. Coordinate design activities to support material requisitions and ensure documentation aligns with technical project specifications. Analyse disputed items from technical and contractual perspectives and prepare formal responses. Process and follow up change order requests, including preparation of justification work sheets and scope alignment with the contractor. Plan and conduct independent engineering work requiring professional judgement in the evaluation, selection and application of engineering techniques and procedures. Required Education & Certifications: Bachelor Degree in an Engineering discipline (Required) Required Experience: 10 to 15 years of experience in oil and gas industry petrochemical projects. Experience supporting EPC and FEED project delivery. Required Skills: Good working knowledge of relevant engineering standards and procedures used within major energy projects. Strong knowledge of international design codes and practices, including American and British codes and the International Building Code. Technical capability in civil and structural engineering design across foundations, steel structures, buildings, infrastructure and specialist structures. Ability to review technical drawings, specifications and calculations for compliance and quality. English communication skills, written and verbal. Strong planning and organisation skills. Problem-solving and analytical capability. Ability to communicate openly and effectively. Drive for results and commitment to safety.
